I actually find it hilarious that some of you are actually reacting negatively towards this.

You'll all get your precious shitty shounen manga on Wednesday, just that you'll get it from a different source and maybe a few hours later than you usually did.

Big fucking deal.

Hahahaha, I wish there was a kudos button on here so hard. Srsly, this, so much.

I see this as an opportunity. Mangastream will pick up new, less well known series to fill up the recent vacancies. As a result they'll become popular. And a few years from now a U.S. publisher will take notice of their popularity, license them and once again order Mangastream to purge their manga selection.

do they actually do that? i notice that many popular manga on online readers eventually get licensed but i thought American distributors based their picks on what is popular in Japan.

lets also bring up negima, where in the first 3 volumes i believe they translated thousand master to southern (or northern i forget which direction) master, and i have seen the letters they used, there is no way in hell you could have gotten a direction out of them, piss poor translation job, and do they offer a free replacement, no, we have to buy a more correct version...

Perhaps I'm reading your words incorrectly, so I'll ask. What are you talking about? I have access to both the manga and animation of Negima, and they've always ever referred to Nagi as the "Thousand Master".

All the books say they're first editions. Further, the font they use is no different than a font you'd see used in any decent scanlation group, and the translation is excellent. Seriously, quit buying manga from the dude on the corner selling shit out the back of his van. There are bad, dishonest people in this world who sell knock-off products to nice tykes like yourself, and I'd hate to see you get hurt.

Also, if you hold down the 'shift' key on your keyboard and type a letter, it makes that letter uppercase. It's basic English grammar to capitalize the first letter of a sentence, as well as the pronoun 'I'.

Oh, no. I'm not being sarcastic. I remember you previously posted that you taught yourself to read and write, so I thought I'd give you a few pointers you must have missed.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
De hehehehehehehe... Now if you'll excuse me, I must return to my rightful place underneath a bridge.

Anyway, if you want to complain about something, complain about the official translation of Ichigo 100%. Now THAT is a tragedy. It's also VIZ. Negima is Del Rey. (at least the volumes you're referring to)

Well isnt it interesting then for me to find it hilarious that there are idiotic people out there that think like this. It is a big Fucking deal. Mangastream had the shit out usually a day or 2 before other groups and their quality was better. Sure their were times were the translation was guessed but at least it made sense. If you want to troll go elsewhere and leave the debates up to people who actually give a damn cool

About time, they were getting a monopoly and I was worried.

Well for the next 1-2 week we won't get steady releases, but right after that some group will pick the gap and no one will care about MS.

I brought the cheese, where's the whine? nvm, found it.
You shouldn't get so agitated just because your favorite series isn't coming out within a day of it being published. It honestly isn't a big deal since you're getting it for FREE somehow or another, even if it's lower quality, since you should be paying money to read other people's intellectual properties. Just be happy that you can continue enjoying what you like for free instead of being anal about it.

also, responding to obvious trolls... laugh

Umm, the biggest issue is that no one will react positively to a known group, like MangaStream, losing priority distribution on popular shonen manga. I don't see how this will help a supporter of the series make the transition from scans to legally distributed copies in the first place, and if they weren't dedicated supporters they may simply lose interest if they don't find the chapters they're looking for. But I'd say that's improbable considering MangaStream's policy on later chapters.

Anyways. In the long run, this is merely a speed bump for the scanlation industry, but I thank MangaStream for being so considerate to us fans for the past 2 years. I know they'll still be popular even without their main attractions.

They are going to digitalize only the big three at the moment. I guess they will start HxH and others later on.

But I hope they will publish weekly and regular releases and for those that can not purchase or subscribe to the digital manga, they will get their dose for free like we get for movies and songs(people who are subscribed to the it will post them for us)Torrent is the best way

I don't think then any scanlation group would need to pick up them. But its highly improbable because I don't think Viz will be fast with ALL of them(hell, I even doubt they will start other series quickly as well)

losing mangastream works on One piece, Naruto & D.Gray-man is a great loss for me :/

I would love to see this happen as well. There is plenty of very good manga out there that doesn't get the attention it deserves either because it's not being scanlated, or not being scanlated consistently. Probably there are some unscanlated gems which Mangastream's staff members follow...? They can use this as an opportunity to introduce us to those series.

Well, that is normally the case. And maybe it was an awful coincidence, but Del Rey licensed all the most popular series from animewaves first, all those years back.

They really did translate it as Southern Master in the first three volumes of Negima.
