In regards to the topic, I honestly don't understand people that would want to have a romantic relationship with a fictional character, but then I don't understand homosexuality or objectum sexuality either so I'm not qualified to judge. I can however, say that I personally don't believe in having actual relationships with fictional characters outside of jokes between friends. Also, shouldn't marriage be between consenting individuals? Not sure how fictional characters can express consent.

i read an article about Japanese men seriously dating virtual girls a while a go. So I think many people would. I can totally understand why women in Japan are like forget this mess. Which of course makes the men like we don't want these women.

About fictional characters in real life, I'm thinking that every Shinjo Mayu's male mc would finally be given the hardly-earned right to rot in prison as sexual offenders.

I just read the case they show as an example, this game Love Plus and I quote: "Players are expected to spend hours with their virtual crushes – buying them flowers, taking them for dates and making future plans. The girls alter their behaviour and personality in reaction to how they are treated"

And no, I wouldn't date nor marry a fictional character. That's why manga is fun, because it's an escape from reality. If people like that existed in real life we wouldn't need fiction.

I used to be married to a body pillow with a picture of a manga character on it, you know. It was great. She did everything I could have possibly wanted in all of my wildest fantasies, without my even having to ask. Quite possibly the easiest relationship I was ever in. But then she went and cheated on me with the couch. In a fit of rage, I threw both of them in the incinerator, but the guilt was absolutely crushing. I eventually went to the police to turn myself in. It was, after all, murder in the first degree. To my dismay, they not only rejected my claim, but spent the next twenty minutes laughing before I was finally removed from the premises while trying to get to second base with the office lamp, which featured a rather flattering picture of Betty Boop.

Since then I've sworn off of 2D relationships. They just aren't worth the lies.
