Within the series information pages, we have added a new input field called "Type". This will classify the series. Currently, the types we have are: manga, doujinshi, drama cd, manhwa, manhua, and artbook. As of right now, the field doesn't actually do anything, but we're planning to add helpful search features in the near future.

To those of you that wish to help this site out, please visit the series page of everything you know/like and change the "Type" field to the correct listing. All series default to "manga", so don't bother changing any series listing that's a manga.

On further note, we admins are in current debate on how to deal with oneshots...Leave these under the type "manga" for now.

For those of you that do not know, manhwa is basically Korean manga, while manhua is the Chinese kind.

Drama CD is a new one in preparation for adding groups that translate dramas by listening to them and writing down the English into some form of text file. This was specifically requested by one such group.

As a reminder, we only allow things that are translated into English. We will not add any Spanish, Italian, French, etc translations. OEL (Original English Language) stuff is allowed that is published by real companies such as Tokyopop or Seven Seas.
Also, we do not allow pure text translations of manga. It must be a scanlation and not just a translation.
And as a third reminder, we are currently not allowing fan-created things to be listed, such as things like Naruto NG or The Genderblending of Haruhi Suzumiya.

And last of all, we have some new search features for the forum. More information here: http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=7447

Edit:
"Artbook" has been added to the "Type" field
We are currently allowing OEL (Original English Language) stuff that is published by real companies such as Tokyopop or Seven Seas
If you have suggestions/corrections for this new feature, please address them here:

New additions, yay! Though, may I recommend one more type to add? OEL, or Original English Language comics styled and marketed as manga. Tokyopop and a few other companies are getting real big on this.

Does that not include artbooks? Most art books have nothing to translate really. Take The Rabbit Reich for instance they only do art books really.

Now that doujinshi is a "type" should it still be a "genre" also?

For now, we are allowing OEL stuff that is actually published by a real company such as Tokyopop or Seven Seas

For artbooks, we'll allow it for now as long as it doesn't get out of hand (since it doesn't take THAT much effort to release an artbook)

In my opinion, oneshots should just be categorized as anything else. They're still manga/manhwa/manhua, etc. And a lot of OEL stuff are webcomics that were good enough to be published. Not sure how you'd want that added.

What about series like Shin Angyo Onshi, as its a manwha because the auther and artist are korean, but its actually not drawn in korea, its down in japan, kinda making it half manga. So for series like that can you just type it as "Manwha/Manga"?

Also sense you're now letting the adding of Drama Cd's and such, does that mean that we can add ones that actually havent been traslated into english? because it sounds like you only want the translated ones listed (which probably wouldnt be that much).

Please only add Drama CD's that either have been translated or will be translated (as a potential project of a group). We're still mainly a manga site...
