Perhaps the yaoi readers are generally more open about their manga preferences... They then to be pretty ready to draw out some claws when there was some mentioning (slightly) unkind commenting about some yaoi groups shutting down. It could have been the repliers were worried about anti-homosexually sentiments on the site.

You're right. Yaoi isn't popular at all, in the real world.
Shounen epics have 100x the amount of fans.

I've never related to any of the girls in shoujo manga, and very rarely have I even cared about girls in shoujo because they're so bland (give or take a few series). Girls in shoujo are too cliche for my taste... besides, reading about the dorky/quirky high school girl getting the hot-yet-aloof guy gets pretty boring after a while.

I'm just as confused... I don't get how girls can go so crazy reading about two guys getting it on (no matter how 'romantic'. The number of Yaoi fangirl votes scare me. I voted for Josei, shame that it isn't more popular.

Somewhat true, but I don't get way fangirl like intense/explicit scene. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the whole BxB thing, but it just plain hentai to me. Thought someplot are quite funny. I voted for Shounen Ai, much less intense and doesn't only focus on perverted stuff like Yaoi mainly.

I think your post's full of crap. Actually I wouldn't mind if only you didn't add that 'don't mean to offend or insult anyone' no balls disclaimer. No need to add that when what you wrote is plain insulting from beginning to end.

Sadly another set of my favorite characters has been forced onto the Yaoi scene: Fey and Kurogane. And it's all because of Fey's *cough* "condition." Sometimes it just makes me wanna cry. I won't even go on about the Bleach ones.

I actually agree with you-- I mean, obviously, yaoi is a niche in manga fandom and many fangirls use this website to keep track of the many different titles being released since there aren't really a lot of central sites otherwise.
However, calling it "disgusting" and even throwing in a "fat-girl" joke (really now?) sort of flies in the face of objectivity, wouldn't you say?
There are plenty of normal reasons not to like yaoi or any other genre. But saying it's 'disgusting' and various other put-downs mainly shows homophobia.
But hey, y'know, I don't mean to insult you or like, 30% of the others who commented to make fun of yaoi readers or whatever. I'm sure you're not homophobic at all. Definitely. For sure.

Indeed, I'm a raging homophobe. I fear the gays. Seriously, I have nightmares about them all the time.
Sarcasm's fun, isn't it?
But indeed, my disclaimer was insincere.
Or it could be that I was just injecting some little jokes into an otherwise boring wall of text.
Of course, I wouldn't put those little points in there if I wasn't looking for a reaction, I guess. So, thanks for being uptight.

I am female, and I voted for either seinen or shounen.. can't remember.
It is definitely a sad day when yaoi wins D:
Anyway I think some of these polls should allow us to pick multiple choices. I had a hard time deciding between seinen and shounen so I flipped a coin in the end.

I voted yaoi but I only read those with plot or with an emphasis on characterisation.
Personally, I'd also have preferred multiple choices since I actually do like the other demographics too. No, wait... just scratch that. Anything that interests me will do, so next time, how about an "All(I like everything)" choice?
