Personally, I don't really like the new layout change.
I really dislike the new widening look and search placement. Were they really necessary? I thought the "in" look was to appear more compact and neat, which I found in the previous layout. I also dislike moving the search bar up since it feels like a total pain when the previous placement felt more natural.

just adding this since I couldn't finish before...
Before somebody else says something, I really mean no offense. And I also do appreciate Manick's effort in trying to implement some new changes. But sorry, this design... just doesn't look very good to me.

I use Mozilla Firefox, it looks great to me. It looks exactly the same for me in IE as well.

I quite like the change. Haha, at first I thought my browser was doing funny things! The only suggestion I would make is to move the cute lil mascot guy above the search box =) ...uh, that's if you were even looking for suggestions, lol.
Also, so what if there weren't any changes for 5.5 years? Obviously something was right and good if you've been around for that long, ne? =) I've always love love loved it, and will continue to do so!
And I've actually read all the comments now so I realize that some of this has already been addressed, sorry =/
But anyways, good job! Thank you all for all the hard work Baka-Updates is like my Manga Bible. =)
