it's not so easy to get a publisher to even glance at your work. most places have a 'no submission' policy in place.

"lambchopsil: I should note that self-made manga is NOT allowed to be added as a series on MangaUpdates. The only exception is if it is being published by a reputable publisher."
Don't you have a lot of Korean web-comic indexed in the site?

There are also quite a few japanese webcomics, but all those webcomics are released on sites which focus on webcomics with all the fancy stuff (online reading, etc), whereas Onemanga is nothing more than a simple forum, where people spam their work in their own threads. Plus the majority of the shit on Onemanga is text only, you can't call a "manga" or even "webcomic", can you? I don't think that Onemanga is to be taken seriously in regard to webcomics (yet).

Sooner or later they are going to get a C&D from manga publishers claiming that they are stealing their business and costing them $ and the publishing inds IS going to spend the $ to make sure it happens. This 'blanket' C&D crap is for the birds. 99% of the manga published is not published in the US and those that are are years behind the release dates. Look at Suzuka, just released vol 15 this month and was finished in 2003.... 7 years ago and still 3 vols to go.

If the US publishers wanted to make $ on manga, they should not sit on their a**es and watch the grass grow. Using onemanga and sites of the such should be used to see what is hot and START PUBLISHING IT! At least cruncyroll is starting to get the idea and doing current shows (tho the selection is quite small compared to what is actually broadcast)...

sorry for the ranting... just had to say this...

Interesting that OneManga have a section for members to create their own manga/webcomic. But so far from the few threads i clicked on, it's mostly outline/plot and little to no images. Using a forum to showcase member's manga/comic is a bad idea imo. Posting every image? that would be hell to read through unless OM is planning on have it in their database like how they had manga viewed before. But until it more organized, i'll stick to Smackjeeves and DrunkDuck for my webcomic needs.
