It's just adding an 'adult material' tag.

Besides, with this trash the govt is creating, I guess they'll crack down less hard on the 'war on scanlation'. Who knows? Every cloud has a silver lining.

This whole post is kind of sensationalist-sounding. The law is a Tokyo law affecting Tokyo only. While it's still bad news in a number of ways, it's not the end of the manga world as we know it, and it's also possible it could be repealed/overturned before it comes into effect. It's not like there's anything we foreigners can really do about it anyways, so there's not much use getting all huffy over it.

I'm sorry, but there's a deeply hilarious irony to your post.

actually the law is real and is dangerous. anime/manga like Naruto, Bleach, fairy tail, TLR, and half of the other manga published by Shueisha (if it shows partial nudity or has dead bodies/blood and gore its in danger of being 18+) if many shounen manga become 18+ then kids cant buy jump and then manga industry dies.

Japanese politicians, especially those in Tokyo, will not give a rat's ass about the opinions of foreigners.

It's only dangerous for shounen/shoujo manga. So anything that is typically something supposed to be read by mature audience, it doesn't do anything. Sadly people are actually believing the lies that the idiots on Sankaku spread.

It's a metropolitan ordinance, or something along those lines. Only valid within Tokyo's specialized city limits- it's not integrated with national politics.

People love freaking out for no reason- this law isn't going to do much of anything in the long run, it'll just get a couple ignorants riled up because they fail to adequately understand the system and the fine print. The publishing industry is definitely justified in their opposition to the law, it's just that even if it receives some mild enforcement, nothing's actually going to disappear or anything, least of all the parts of the industry that actually make money.

Ishihara's batshit insane though admittedly some of his earlier novels are decent, but it's just a token move.

The news you gave are partial. It doesn't remove violence, rape, homosexuality etc.
It just bans the spectacularization of them. Also, series won't have to be banned: each series will be given at most 6 recalls per year, after which the company will get an official request of self-regulation.
That means companies will have to give an appropriate rating to their series, and won't have to remove them.

Here are some links to get more indepth and unbiased information:

Please, stop spreading misinformation. Even though this bill has a negative impact, doing this is just provoking mass hysteria.

I would expect this type of fallacious scaremongering and exaggeration from sankaku complex, but not from mangaupdates.
Perhaps you should educate yourself on the reality, maybe by reading a real news source, before urging others to act.
