True that. I'm a new release mod, and the rate at which I get informed of new releases through my moderation powers is faster than I've experienced before. The only way to learn of releases faster is by subscribing to the RSS feeds of various groups which is just inconvenient.

If in light of these latest events MU will add an option for scanlators to indicate if they approve of their releases being put on aggregator sites at all... I'm not saying that it'll make the world of difference, but if it is publicly known that XYZ group does not want their releases on any aggregator site, perhaps more fans would help police aggregators. As it stands, such information is only buried in forums or release zip files (which are removed when uploaded to aggregators).

There IS something you can do about it. That something is stopping, which is exactly what they did. I wouldn't go down that route myself, but I understand the reasoning.

ISPs offer a service to access many kinds of content. Google is earning money on ad revenue from searches, which is, again, a service. Online viewers, besides taking the work of other people, already hosted other places that people pay for, for free, and putting it where they can make money, make money off mangakas and manwhagas. Also a service, but also a non-essential service that people should not make money from. One could argue google is non essential, but try to find shit on the internet by yourself.

I don't think you understood my question.
Where are they going to hire full-time workers?

I think the rage of over him being let go would be rather more silly--hells, what confuses me is the rather apathetic approach to handling this on MU's part. I don't really like MangaFox and the the online readers on the whole--but insisting I visit the scanlation group's site to snag chapters has its own issues. I ended up resorting to one for several volumes' worth of back-chapters because, while somebody had picked up and (only just) finished translating the series, the original group had not only shut down, but their website is entirely off the 'net.
This is, unfortunately, more or less the normal fate of any series that has parts done by a defunct group: I have only encountered one or two which had their releases still obtainable for more than a few months after their demise.
That said, I'm going to have to go with the people not missing the group that ragequit--yes, MU ought to have gotten rid of the guy (or at the very least announced new policy: report mods violating your to-reader release policies & they'll be de-modded) already, but their side in all of this reeks of drama like a power-outage-sale in a seafood department. It's about as attractive, too, if you're thinking of joining staff somewhere...

it wont help, sites like goodmanga and mangahere (which remove credits) will continue to disregard such wishes.

Well, he decided to pick the place where they love him more. He's smart.
