This week's poll, which was suggested by our member ayumisingo, is a little long-winded... If you have been reading a series, and you liked it, but then right at the ending, it just sucked so bad, would you still read another series by the same author? Very weird question... But my personal prediction is that most people would still read their stuff since they liked it up until the end. (No forum thread this time)

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Favorite / Best kind of manga romance
Choices:
Childhood friend - votes: 2731 (16.7%)
Long time (secret?) crush - votes: 1777 (10.9%)
Half (whole?) sibling - votes: 1493 (9.1%)
Someone new - votes: 3061 (18.7%)
Best friend - votes: 1354 (8.3%)
Idol (seemingly unattainable) - votes: 1324 (8.1%)
Rival - votes: 3821 (23.4%)
Don't like romance at all - votes: 766 (4.7%)
There were 16327 total votes.
The poll ended: February 4th 2012

The rival, eh? I guess a lot of people like the catharsis of turning an enemy into a lover

Mirai Nikki and The Terror of AlleGory had both endings that I didn't like, so I don't read Big Order. none

It depend of a lot of thing like it was axed or how long the story was you can't always expect to have good ending with oneshot but having a really bad ending on a series with 100+ chapters is something else when they have worked on a series for years they should have the idea for a decent ending no matter what happen.

I think it depends on how bad the ending was. If the ending really makes no sense then I would be reluctant to read their work again.....but I still might. If it just was somewhat bad or such.....I would just keep that in mind with their future work. If the end was horrible as hell......I would pretty much not waste my time on anything by them ever again.

if the ending sucked because it got axed, then yes, for sure.
if the ending sucked and the series wasn't axed, then depends on how bad the ending is.

Adachi Mitsuru. Love his series, but I'm always dissatisfied by the endings. But I still reread a bunch of them.

I was really an avid fan of Prince of Tennis. But near the end of things, it got so ridiculous and the ending felt so rushed and poorly written that it really ruined the entire series for me. While I won't deny that I still read Shin Prince of Tennis on occasions, I read it more with a more "Oh, I guess I should..." type of attitude rather than "Ah, this is still worth it".

While usually not much people won't even bother reading from the same author, i think it's plain retarded to not reading another series from the same author just because one of their work just make you feel discontent because the ending suck. now i'm giving you question, do you think the author of those(with not-so-good ending) series didn't think about the ending at all? there must be a reason the author put those ending. well, that was just me ranting.

and to further build on your points that not reading anther series from a mangaka because of a bad ending is retarded, having one series with a bad ending doesnt mean all of his/her series will have bad endings. over time, their storytelling skills could get better and they could develop incredible endings to their future series.

If an author had one series that ended badly, I might read his/her new series, but I would hold off on buying any volumes of the new series until it was completely published. What's more painful than reading a bad ending on a 30+ volume manga is reading a bad ending that completely ruins a series you've already paid hundreds of dollars on. To this date, my Samurai Deeper Kyo collection remains incomplete. >_>

I did vote "Yes", but mainly because I very rarely look at the author's name. Meaning I wouldn't notice it was by the same author and thus still read it. I guess if I would notice I might not read it.
The author's name usually only interests me if the manga was genius.

It really depends. Yeah, bad endings suck, but if the rest of the manga was could, it can sorta be overlooked. Right now, I'm scanlating a single volume series with a terrible ending. However, the content before it is extremely enjoyable and very entertaining.

So yeah, depends.

The endings of xxxHolic, Kobato and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle ruined my enjoyment in their other stories. Each series seemed like it ended because Clamp got tired of it and that makes me fear the same would happen to their new series.

So Samurai Deeper Kyo has a bad ending?
I've got only the later 10 volumes of them, so I need them to put it on the cancel list.
This way I can never complete a long series (the longest completed series is that I have until now is 11 volumes (12 volumes after finishing cirque du freak)), well I've still got 22 volumes of King of Hell and Chronicles of the cursed sword.... What is even more annoying than a bad end is still any end at all, like the ones mentioned earlier, and their won't be any scanlation group doing it, because it's to far behind + still ongoing + the series is longer than One piece.
But those won't be the only ones, I've still got over 30 series that I gave a 10/10 that are on hiatus by the publisher(English and Japanese) or by the scanlation group (for example "Monk!", that hilarious series that the group quit doing it when it was in the middle of the best part).
I don't like to end a series in the middle of the best part like Kanpai! either.
