Yeah, i m here again looking for some good books again. I pretty much finished everything from the other thread so i want a fresh start here. A couple of suggestions would be helpful. Let's see:

What i want is some fantasy book; it might be a realistic world or completely fantasy world but if the world s realistic(the world we live in), there must be fantasy elements like urban fantasy. What i want is A MALE MAIN: That is a must otherwise i will not even consider reading it no matter how good the book is.

I dont like to jump perspective to perspective in the book it gets confusing sometimes but its okay if it s a little. But if the book s really good and flows like water with different perspectives, it s still okay. Important part is it needs to focus on the perspective of main more then others.

Generally, dont want sth like Young adult thing since they r mostly so simple and boring. I want sth more like for the taste of a mature audience.

Series of books would be awesome sth long.

Main must not be some idiot. Preferably, a mage, hidden powers sth like that and not an old man (40s or sth). Sword fighting is okay but if there r magical powers that is even better. Like in the WOT where Rand s a master swordsman and an amazing mage as well. Or like in the codex alera where the main gets his powers later. Coming of an age s also very welcome but most of the books here are in the Young Adult catagory. As long as it s good i dont mind but i dont want some shallow plot and 2 dimensinal characters where some prophecy shows the way for them.

how bout The Sea of Trolls, its actually a YA fic but its really good, one of my faves, read the whole thing in 4 days, with tons of school work.. its about a boy and his sister who was taken into this viking ship and then many things happened and then he and Thorgil has to go on this adventure~ and then this and that and then i cried and then.. you have to read it yourself, Yggdrasil and trolls are involved as well.

and if you want something more mature, how bout Lyonesse? it was the first mother fantasy novel that i have read, it was set in middle earth, pseudo history-ish, lots of magic, battles, kingdom conflicts, not that much romance and drama twas actually lacking in that aspect, it was dripping with malice and drama but not enough human feelings, a character dies and nothing.. and i will think of them in my head and say a little prayer for them cause they become attached to me. anyways, this one is about the son of Princess Suldrun daughter of Casmir, King of Lyonesse, she was impregnated by Aillas, Prince of Troycinet (?).. and then there were villains and stuff and good side charas.

and if you want urban fantasy, how bout God Game, one of my faves, its about this writer who was asked by his friend to test out this game and then it was struck by lightning and then he discovered that somewhere the characters in the game were real and he was controlling them! and then his world started mixing up with their and then he gets attached.. and conflicts in the other world must be resolved it was really good, finished it all in 2 days and 3 nights

im so sorry that most of them are old, i really like old books or what i can find in the bargain cart xD

ooh ive read some good fantasy books the bartimaeus triliogy is really good its funny but also has a really good story and interesting characters earthsea is very good if you like something deep and slow also sabriel by garth nix if you wanna read something with a bit of necromancy

The main character is female, however, although the main character changes throughout the sequels - if I remember rightly, quite a lot of it is focused on the heroine's son, but there's also a significant portion dedicated to another female character.

Can't say I've read them but people have said I should read the Dresden Files series. From what they tell me it's what you may have in mind.

The Spirit Lens by Carol Berg absolutely fits and is really good. It is the first of a trilogy.

Looking at your list of books, I can't believe you haven't read Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files. It is by far the best urban fantasy series ever written and there are 13 books out so far, the 14th book will be coming out this year (supposedly the series will be 23 or so novels long).

Another one is Brent Weeks' The Black Prism which is the start of his new series.

There is also Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy. A classic and pretty much fits exactly the kind of story you're looking for.

I'd also recommend anything from Brandon Sanderson. The Stormlight Archive (the first book The Way of Kings is out) is an amazing new series that he will focus on once he finishes the WOT series. Mistborn Trilogy is probably the best thing he's written, which also has the greatest magic system I've ever seen (yes, the main character is a girl but it's written by a guy and there isn't a strong focus on romance/feelings and relationships if that's what you hate about girl main characters).

Last but not least, George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and FIre. The awesome HBO show Game of Thrones is based on it. It does have a lot of different character POVs, but every single character who gets a POV is pretty much a main character in their own right. It is the best fantasy story ever written so you may want to at least give it a shot.

Terry Pratchett is very good - I'd recommend starting with Guards Guards from his Discworld series. It's somewhat different to a lot of fantasy, but he's very good at blending in the satire.

Neil Gaiman is also good - I saw you have The Graveyard Book on your list, but Stardust is lovely, and I like American Gods.

My first book from either was actually Good Omens, which is a collaboration between the two - its my favourite urban fantasy.

I read bartimaeus trilogy and earthsea. They were good but not very good. Bartimaeus trilogy disappointed me at the last book.And i just couldnt get used to the writing style of the Earthsea but they were good. About sabriel, i just skipped it since it's got a female main. And i dont like the changing mains throughout the series. I wanna stick to s1 and stay there mostly.

Started this book a little while ago but decided to put it on hold since it s kinda very slow paced but give it a try when i get in the mood to read sth slow paced. It s in my to-read list.

This is in my to-read list since it was not exactly what i was looking i put it on hold. The story seems interesting and i hear good things about this book.



I started this 1 a while ago but the language seemed to heavy for my english which was surprising. I will give it a try again.



I would like to learn more about "The Way of Kings" from s1 who read the book and can give me a brief explanation since i find the explanation on the book lacking for the main character. Also I dont particularly hate girl characters and their romance, it s just that i dont wanna read them these days.



A Song of Ice and FIre series good, i read some of it but didnt finish the book. I plan to finish it when more books come out. Since it s a huge world, i might lose track of where i am when i m waiting for the next book.

About the "The Swan's War" when i looked it up i found out that it has many changing POWs that you can lost between them. So i m gonna skip this 1 too.
And as i said i read the Earthsea.



I read some books of the "Discworld" series a long time ago. But what i m looking for now needs to have linearity like a steady main that goes through different conflicts throughout the series so i will skip the discworld for now.



Right now, i m looking for some series preferably long so standalone books will wait a little while .

Read Dune by Frank Herbert. It is science fiction though. Probably one of my favorite novels ever written.

Would low fantasy and supernatural books be okay?

Well, you've read the Riftware Saga, you just have to read all the others books of R.E.Feist :

Total of 19 books so far.

And any book from David Gemmel if you haven't read them, they're all masterpieces !
Also all the others books of Robin Hobb that you haven't read...(Liveship Traders Trilogy for example)
