yeah, there should really be an "it doesnt matter" or "it depends on the series" option

if its a romcom or seinin or something a little ecchi here and there is a welcome commodity,
but if im reading a serious romance, a mainstream shounen, a horror, or a sports manga- it would be pretty annoying.

its not really an accurate 'poll' if you have such limited black/white choices
what is this- yahoo?

when I read the this poll question, the first thing that came to my mind was: "how does ecchi element even make a series funny at all..?"
oh right, may be a lot of guys find it "funny"...( but I do want to know what is so funny about it..? oh, may be seeing the panties is so much fun for them..?argh)
I actually avoid series that have ecchi elements.....
(since I ve never came across with a ecchi series that I like, I personally find those ecchi elements rather ...disgusting and not "funny" AT ALL)

How about assuming that the question refers only to good ecchi series and not all series?

Seeing as there are good series without ecchi the only correct answer is "None at all"

Also more than half thinks a good series need ecchi, I'm dissapointed.

So more than 50% thinks series like one piece should have ecchi.

And at the moment 45.4% says that every "good series" needs to be funny.

Exactly. The poll seems to be created by someone who doesn't know what he/she's talking about. First, the "Just enough to make it funny" suggests that "ecchi" is always "funny", so I imagine that watching the "ecchi" scenes in High school of the dead or in Cage of Eden must have the author laughing out-loud or something.

Agreed with myuym n gundamx2 above me.

There are ecchi series I like, there are series that are more like porn that I like and there are good series that have absolutely no ecchi that I like. The correct answer is none at all, people should read questions more carefully.

The question could've been 'How much ecchi in a series would you prefer?' not sure if there was already a poll on that.

I guess some of the voters for just enough would be glad that there are doujins.

Yes, I was really surprised(not pleasantly) to see so many people think Ecchi is funny at all. There are SO many shounen out there that are hilarious and don't need to resort to cheap fan service to get laughs. Those are called 'Funny' in a true sense.

Sure there are some ecchi manga that are funny, but to say that ecchi=funny is definitely preposterous.

In fact, most of the ecchi manga I have come across are downright annoying and stupid too. Anybody who gets a laugh out of randomly sprinkled panty shots really doesn't have much of a sense of humor.

not to mention the different 'levels' of ecchi-
it can be anywhere from to-love-ru style blatant nudity / face in crotch every other freakin page
to generic casual panty shots or a big breasted love interest existent in pretty much every shounen manga (just look at the big three)
to absolutely none in more serious series like death note

also i dont think anybody really finds it "funny", its more like a perverted gimmick or fan service.
im a guy and i have NEVER thought an ecchi scene was funny- i've never even considered the possibility that it was there for comedic purposes- but i wouldnt be so closeminded as to call it "disgusting" like rianna said, people have different tastes- ecchi is prodominantly for guys, and you are a girl; of course you probably wont enjoy it

the poll is just really badly worded.

it is an interesting concept to see what people 'prefer'- but saying how much it 'needs', and then giving such a limited number of choices is just rubbish

How much ecchi does a good series NEEDS?

Some people says they can't read a manga with out ecchi (i don't like it at all), i made this poll suggestion after a poll that was exactly the same but whit romance (same question with "Romance" same answers except that for the second option it was "enoguh to make it good") , not all manga have romance, not all romance is the same, nobody said a word about that none . As Lamb said most polls are like this one.

Answer: In my opinion a good manga doesn't "need" ecchi to be good, also, what's the difference, if it exist, between an "ecchi" manga and manga such as "Kono S" or "B gata H kei" that is aimed toward a more mature audience?, i would't call that "ecchi" but rather... "adult" (perhaps?) although such a tag is not restricted for that alone (if even used with that intention)

The majority of those who hate ecchi are either female or GAY males.

Seriously, I think ecchi content is a good way to make readers want more or look forward for more chapters. It is what keeps a title in the selling market.

I think the best answer to this question is "Just enough to make it funny"

I don't hate ecchi. On the contrary, I read a lot of series with ecchi content. I just don't think a good series needs it nor should a series need it to be good. A series can't be all about boobs after all.

The other poll asked, " How much drama do you want in a series with romance?" No one complained about that because it was worded in a way that made sense. It was also more specific. Using the words "need" and "good series" wasn't the best choice of words for reasons mentioned in other posts. I hope I don't sound too serious. I know it's just for fun. =) In any case, I chose none. I don't hate all ecchi but I don't think it's necessary.

No, no that one. I going to search it.

Anyway, you are right need was the wrong word to use.

edit: it was that one laugh , seems like i lack attention, no wonder i can't even remember my mother birthday.

well damn, too bad.

To be honest of all the suggestions that i made this was by far the worst :/, I just made this cos i'm tired of reading chapters about "A trip to a thermal bath" and the like, do i have to be either female or gay to be tired of ecchi? of curse not

-I still think they are making a storm out of a water glass tough, a lot of people give good answers to the question, such as the person below me-

As long as it's the right ammount I don't really care,

But really, a good series doesn't need ecchi.
