Your welcome. I could have also posted things I didn't know but predicted, but I thought other people would, which they did.
And just in case you haven't read it though I would assume you have since it's by the same author.
Theres also: Endo Hiroki Tanpenshuu

I actually hadn't looked at anything else by that author, which is probably the first thing I should have done haha. Thank you very much, will be sure to read that one soon.

Zipang. Politics, ethics, WWII, suspense. I hope it doesn't disappoint you. BTW, nice idea with your lists. Check my lists and look for the top rated mangas (there's comedy, shounen, shoujo and josei, but IMO they are worth a try). Have fun!

Thanks man. Only set up my lists like that because I don't really like MU's rating system haha. And I looked at your recommendation, and I'm just curious: how do you make 43 volumes out of that premise? haha

Zipang is not completely translated -so I'm wondering too, but so far, there is a lot of text. Up to volume 5, the story still in the third quarter of 1942. I forgot to tell you, there is sci-fi, but only in the premise. If you read the description of the manga, you'll see why before doing anything, the Mirai's crew has to think carefully the consecuences of any action.

Edit. Another recomendation: Hotel, by boichi, there are two versions of this yomikiri, I'd read first the one in colour, just for the colour. The are pretty much the same history, the endings being the only big difference. Less than 60 pages -I think, so don't want to tell you nothing about the story, I think it may lose some impact. Boichi art is top notch in my book, second to Hiroaki Samura (that reminds me, if you have the stomach, check Bradherley no basha, I stress, only if you have the stomach.)

Ikigami
Kono Sekai no Owari e no Tabi
Bokurano

I enthusiastically second Oyasumi Punpun!
Edit: Kono Sekai no Owari e no Tabi is nothing realistic, but it's an enlivening read. I recommend it so much biggrin

Hmmm, Fridge Science? Okay, but how realistic is your realistic mean?

If you don't mind a bit fantasy to be thrown in, I can say Mushishi and Majo are deep. Left you thinking why we are so attached to materialism. Or at very least, enjoyable enough to let them flow. Both are completed, and both are my favorite. If these you suit your favor, you can check Daisuke Igarashi, author of Majo. His works are fabulous.

Another duet would be Ai-Ren and Saikano. A little further to the future, just like Eden. Questioning what's the point of living, or why being alive is so much important. Haven't finished Ai-Ren myself, because that title is just too heavy. Both are completed. Oh, if you don't mind manga that is even heavier, Undercurrent is the best. Straining yourself to continue reading this is very rewarding!!

If Eden has a sister, I think that would be Akira. Masterpiece from, ummm, perhaps 80-ies. Katsuhiro Otomo know his stuff!

If you prefer action girls and boys to be involved, Black Lagoon perhaps is what you're looking for. Mama-Bear, Papa-Wolf, and other kind Magnificent Bastard shows up in this gloomy dramatic action manga. Materialism at the dirtiest.

Intellectually challenging, heavy dose on drama, and awesome story line, Huo Feng Liao Yuan is a war manhua that isn't just deep, but entertaining to the high heaven. Well, if you manage to get a grip on the bigger picture. You can get lost very easily in this one.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations, and providing descriptions. I'm considering picking up Ai-Ren, but last time I tried to read it in moved to slow for me. And like you said, it was very heavy, and it seemed like it was gonna get real depressing real quick. Will start it again probably. And Ravages of Time looks excellent. Any idea if the author has plans to end it soon?

It seems like a lot of Josei mangas feature themes of beauty, and characters trying to achieve it with horrific results. Sounds quite interesting, might be a style I have to start reading.
