This week's poll was suggested by our member mu2020. Would you feel comfortable wearing any kind of manga/anime related merchandise in public? Watch, t-shirt, pants, wallet, earrings, ring, necklace, etc. I dunno what else is possible to wear besides a full-blown costume...

PS: My wallet for the last 5-ish years is from Mahou Sensei Negima!.

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:

Draw the same faces on different characters in other series - votes: 537 (3.5%)
Discontinue the series (or hiatus) - votes: 6478 (42.1%)

Dislike his/her art style - votes: 809 (5.3%)
There were 15393 total votes.
The poll ended: June 23rd 2012

I have to agree that if it just suddenly ends (or doesn't end at all), it really sucks. I always want a proper closure!

I have an anime keychain. It's really the only merch I have. I keep it on my bus pass case, so yeah, I wear it. I probably wouldn't wear an anime t-shirt though, unless it was REALLY classy.

I remember seeing a college student on the train using the Akatsuki cloak as a jacket on a school day morning a few years back. Seriously.

I would wear anime merchandise, but only if it's subtle to the point that only fellow fans would get it. For example, even though I am a Gundam fan I would think twice of wearing a shirt with a giant robot on it; I am, however, willing to wear an "Anaheim Electronics" shirt. Problem is subtle merch like the ones from Cospa are very expensive and hard to get outside Japan, and the leading anime merchandise store here is notorious for bootlegs.

No, I don't wear anime or manga merchandise at all. Just like I don't wear anything else that's notably branded, like band t-shirts or fashion brands with huge logos (except for fjällräven). I like my clothes (and accessories) simple and chic.

... And I already look too young, so if I wore that stuff, people would think I was 14 years old.

Used to. Had a a Blame! shirt that I wore once or twice. Then I washed it and it shrank. And I'm already festively plump to begin with. dead

no chance. I really love manga, but I just can't bring myself to wear one of those kinda shirt, pants, wallets outside. It's pretty lame (no offense to anyone) to wear shirts with anime characters on. Especially when your friends are all those based-on-clothes judges.
But if it's those cool accessories those manga characters have then no probs, they look pretty cool.
And childish stuff are fine too, like Mickey Mouse or Tom & Jerry, they would probably look cute

Heh- considering my taste in manga and anime is probably reviled by the majority of the anime and manga fan community, I like to keep it in the closet, thanks!!!

And I would never consider wearing manga/anime-related in public no matter how acceptable the anime or manga is- yes I'm a closet-otaku! laugh

I only have a Naruto frog-shaped money purse, some Japanese keychains and Totoro earrings (I don't wear them very often), but if I had some manga&anime related clothes I think I would wear them in public. Of course, in moderation - I've seen some otakus dressed from head to toe in manga&anime related stuff, it looks ridiculous. I mean, it could be okay during anime conventions, but otherwise it looks stupid.

Sorry...but no way.

If I did, people will probably say something like:
a) Eh!? I remember that from somewhere... (but they can't remember)
b) Eh!? What's that? (I reply 'from manga/anime') Huh? What's that?
c) That's cool...but why do you wear it? (they look at me as if I am stupid)
d) *Ignores* / *Doesn't see*

Sad, but true. The people who I live around don't even know what manga/anime is. I hate being asked questions, so I probably wouldn't wear any, even if that manga was a perfectly normal one.

For clothing, nah I wouldn't. I have a t-shirt, but I just wear it for home use. It's baggy and comfortable anyway, so it's perfect for that sort of thing.
I don't have any wallets or jewellery relating to anime/manga, but that probably wouldn't be too bad. They're usually subtle anyway, especially the jewellery. Unless people know, they're most likely going to think it's some random design. I've got a Miku phone charm and I have keyrings on my bag as well. Although it's not technically "wearing it", I did get approached by someone when I was in a shop and they were like "Omg! You're a Naruto fan!" and we had a little chat. (I have a Gaara keyring btw) laugh
I've never been approached by someone and them ask "What is that from?" so yeah. Unless people know or are brave enough to approach me, I don't think anyone else actually cares.

Ah, sure, why not?
I don't wear a lot of accessories, though,
so it'd have to be something like a key-chain or a coin-wallet.

I actually own a very cute, anime girl styled key-chain, but I refrain from using it because I'm afraid it'll get dirty or break, so it just stands on a shelf... Holding no keys. >.>

As for clothes - no.
I don't wear anything with huge prints.

I wouldn't mind owning merchandise, but no way would I ever wear and/or sport them in public...especially at my age.

Hmmm, I have a Fairy Tail necklace, A bleach and NERV t-shirt, some phone straps and some rings... Thats all that I can think of for now. And I wear them rarely.
