Bleach might just outlast Naruto (> 2yrs). It has a lot more loose ends that need to be tied up.

As long as we get to see and epilogue or something where Naruto is Hokage then i'll be content lol.

But yeah i think Sasuke has to die, or something really similar.

Didn't Kishimoto say he's using the same story formula as Dragonball?

Kid Adventures ->
Older Teen Adventures ->
Adult Adventures

Kid Goku ->
Older Teen Goku (although this version lasted for one entire arc) ->
Adult Goku (Becomes a father and after going through certain circumstances - becomes the most powerful)

Kid Naruto ->
Older Teen Naruto (currently) ->
Adult Adventures (Goes through his trials as a Sensei, boyfriend, and later becomes the Hokage)

Naruto may be currently strong enough to be Hokage, but his mentality is still that of a child's. I mean, it would be kind of weird for him to become Hokage without actually being a Sensei of his own kid-squad like Kakashi did. This is why I think Tsunade and the other Kages won't die. This is also why I think this manga is far from over. Naruto still needs to learn how to be a leader, which won't be a problem now that he's best pals with the Nine-tail's Kurama. eek

Totally, because Konoha's villagers can't wait for the fox that once decimated their village to become the closest advisor to the next Hokage. I mean, seriously? Not to disparage your opinions, but that just doesn't seem quite it.

IMO Naruto should definitely not, repeat, not become Hokage. It'd be decent enough if he became some sort of free-wheeling character like Jiraiya, promising to come back 'someday' (that can be an epilogue where Kiba and Hinata's children run around and ask their parents who the new weird guy in town at the ramen stall is).

Why? Because mangas that give you the best sort of ending-feel are the ones that NEVER end with fulfilled promises that they started out with. Precisely because Naruto promised to become Hokage 10 million times, he MUST NOT become Hokage.

This may seem counterintuitive, or even stupid, to some. I assure you, it's not. Ask yourselves: how many times have you seen mangas that ended with a happy-ever-after-all-the-starting-promises-fulfilled ending, and ground your teeth in frustration? And, compare that to the mangas which you considered had truly good endings, the ones that ended up in a somewhat different direction, with quiet unspoken promises and an unassuming aura, lying in wait for more dreams to be made. The ending must NOT be a carbon copy of the beginning precisely because (1) it's old, we've already seen it and it's the sure-fire cliche to piss everyone off, and (2) it means our characters haven't really grown, changed their priorities, seen more in life, when we thought they did... it just means they got lucky, and stagnated.

Sorry if anyone disagrees vehemently with the above. It's only my humble opinion. smile

The ending that I felt is really good is in the anime code Geass where the main character died. I would be good if Naruto ended as good as code Geass.

Also hoping to see that happen for sure. Someone mentioned Sakura maybe liking Naruto but I don't see it, nor could I see it. The biggest thing is that Hinata would have to step up more than she has and force him look at her, as his eyes always to go to Sasuke.

I'll be interested to see how Naruto becomes Hokage - will Tsunade die or will she just retire in a bit (she's 50 already). The former would be more exciting, but the latter may be more likely.

I think it will go something like this:

- Sasuke and Naruto are going to fight each and 'die' - long spiritual conversation
- They both come back somehow. Sasuke has some grand realization and turns 'good' momentariky
- Sasuke's actions have been too atrocious for him to ever come back to any village. He has to die.
- Sasuke dies in some grand fashion that helps save the world and you get a SasXNaru death scene
- [Stuff happens]
- I'm guessing this will go full circle and we'll see a scene with Naruto and Hinata who has just given birth to a child. They will talk about the future the child will see and you'll find out that they named him Sasuke in his honor (kinda like Harry Potter and probably other literary works that I don't feel like looking up).

couldn't have put it better, this seems exactly like the way it'll end

Or it could be Sasuke having a child with Sakura - and they end up naming him Naruto.
But whatever the case, I don't see Naruto staying alive at the end of the manga.
The manga will end when he dies. He needs to sacrifice himself for peace. That is the only way.

I kind of hope Naruto doesn't die. That just seems like a colossal cop out, given the story of the manga. It's pretty much been an ongoing theme that him "living" how he has been is an inspiration to multiple characters, and with him "taming" the kyuubi and eliminating the possibility of it rampaging through him and endangering the village, I don't really see why he would need to sacrifice himself. I guess he can die through his battle with Tobi/Obito + whatever happens with Sasuke, but eh. If he does die, though, I have a feeling he's going to be put up on the mountains as some kind of honorary hokage or some shit.

Both Bleach and Naruto are confirmed to be ending... wonder if there are going to be any new series to replace them. Feels like I haven't seen anything for a couple years now that are on the same scale or genre in Jump as these two.

I agree with you in a lot of things, but about Fairy tail it just has the same art style that One pice because Echiro Oda and Mashima hiro worked together as assistants at some point and learned to draw with similar influences.

No, in fact, Mashima never was the assistant of any mangaka. He is one of the few who started as a mangaka from the very beginning. He started like that after he won an award for a oneshot he did("Magician").

Warning spoiler alert do not read if you are currently reading 666 satan

if Naruto does die at the end its going to be like the end of 666 satan where the main ch gives up his life and power to save everyone and the second main male ch will be alive years later and tell his kids about the story of the man who saved us all.

in 666 satan the main ch was always saying that he was going to "take over the world" naruto is sayin he is going "to be hokage" they both have a great power within them that is not originally theirs, there are also others that also have similar powers, there are a bunch of similarities between the two

at the end of 666 satan the main ch gave his life and power to save the world and "joined everyone's hearts together" so it was like he took over the world, i can see naruto ending the same way by giving up his life and power but his character changes all the ninjas and brings them together and so is like he became the hokage and was the leader that brought all the clans together

also if you go look up the author of 666 satan it turns out that he IS THE TWIN BROTHER OF THE AUTHOR OF NARUTO now im even more certain that naruto may end that way

Soon, that sounds actually like a good plan.
Not a big fan of series that drag on and on and on.

You're right, Mashima-sensei never work as an assistant. You could read about it here. But both Oda-sensei and Takei-sensei were once assistants to Watsuki-sensei.

I can totally see that happening. In fact, I think I'd like that a lot, if it were to happen. It's like there's no real ending, it leaves the rest up to your imagination. Of course, I'd like to see specials and extras of their lives after the end, though...
