Hi! I'd like a manga about cross-dressing, please! biggrin I love the genre "gender bender" and I've read many, many stories about cross-dressing. But now I want one about cross-dressing as a performance.

Something like drag queens or onnagatas or something like that. The character dress up as a female because it's his job, and it is, preferably, artistic. I'd like it to be as fancy as possible (as close to drag queens as possible), even though I think it's probably very rare.

I just watched "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of Desert" and I was wondering if there was manga about cross-dressing that showed it as a performing art.

Even if I've read a lot of manga with cross-dressing, I can't remember many examples to tell you about. I think that Nobara (Kumota Haruko) fits, because the character Mimi cross-dresses for his work (well, he is a transgender and all that). Also Mede Shireru Yoru no Junjou is about onnagatas. Again, I'm looking for something closer to drag queens. I think that several manga, as Yuigon and even Gintama (how could anyone forget Paako-chan and Zurako-chan? biggrin) show places (such as bars) that have cross-dressing as a performance.

I suppose mostly recommendations will be yaoi, but I'm accepting any genre.

Thank you very much for your help here!

Actually there are several shounen/seinen titles like that.

The only ones I remember are:
AKB49
Kunisaki Izumo no Jijou

Don't forget Penguin Revolution.

There are also shoujo where girls dressing as guys to perform (e.g. rock bands).
You can have a search for "handsome female lead" and may find them.

Oh, I didn't know AKB49 was about cross-dressing (never bothered looking at this). I always visit its scanlator website, because of Magi. It's nice to know. smile Thank you!
Kunisaki Izumo no Jijou definitely fit my criteria, but I have already read this (and I don't like it very much). But thank you for reminding me of it!

The protagonist (a straight guy) in Longer and Slower Than a River occasionally works at a cross-dressing gay bar, it's quite a funny manga once you get past the crude artwork.
