This year's 15th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine is announcing on Wednesday that a television anime adaptation of Julietta Suzuki's Kamisama Hajimemashita shōjo manga has been green-lit. The story follows a girl named Nanami who finds herself homeless after her father leaves. She comes to the home of a boy who offers to let her stay over — only to discover it is a Shinto shrine. The boy happens to be a deity.

Suzuki launched the manga in Hana to Yume in 2008, and Hakusensha has published 11 volumes.

Akitaro Daichi (Fruits Basket, Kodocha, Now and Then, Here and There) is directing at TMS Entertainment (Detective Conan, Lupin III). Junko Yamanaka (Detective Conan, KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple) is designing the characters.

I do hope they don't mess it up, because I'd like it to stay closely related to the manga; I don't want it to separate from the original plot, halfway through.

I've been thinking for a while that this series is good enough to warrant an anime. biggrin
I can't wait to see how they handle it. However, from that magazine description, it sounds like they might be keeping the characters but putting them in an alternative take on the setting, if it is a boy deity who invites her.
It wouldn't surprise me if they do choose to present an alternative plot for the anime -especially if they are only planning for 13 episodes-, since the mystery of the major underlying plot in the manga has only been revealed in bits and pieces, as far as I know.

I can only hope (?) that they don't portray the characters with pink, blue, green, silver or orange hair because it's all so fake. But, I bet that Tomoe will probably have something like gray/silver/white hair. Well, I guess I'll take a look at it, anyway. I've been 'following' it for quite a while. Quite an enjoyable read, I say

Seriously!?! HECK YEAH!!!!
But my question is how they will put it together since the manga is't even completed yet. I hope they make an alternative ending where they end up together biggrin
Also, any rumors on when this is supposed to come outconfused

As they played the game...I waited for someone to call "onigiri." But no one called. I was very little then. I had almost forgotten about that. [...] But they knew...there would never be room for an onigiri...in a fruits basket.
