Otoyomegatari?
It seems you really enjoy shoujo (I do not) as well, but didn't include that as a requirement. I can't think of any more ATM, but this is the one that popped into my head. It's not strongly romantic and it has some funny parts even if it's not listed in the genres. I like the latest volumes the most, which has more comedy I'd say, but I can't remember since I haven't read the first few chapters in a year or so. I also think it's release frequency is pretty slow (maybe once a month), but it's good if you can tolerate seinen

I swear, so many people on this site are so full of themselves. A lot seem to think they always have an "intelligent and/or logical" point or show signs of a superiority complex. They never admit they're wrong. Maybe partially, but excuses abound! :\

well, the good old genre search gives you this:
Historical&Romance&Comedy (without that annoying stuff you mentioned)
no surprises there, but from those I'd recommend Hana to Akuma (less historical importance, more fantasy), Serendipity, Rurouni Kenshin (contains finghting and stuff) and Chrono Crusade (this is more on the supernatural/fantasy side)

Maybe you'll like Donten ni Warau... Although I'm not so sure about the romance thing (there was some romance but not for the main characters), it has lots of comedy, plus amazing art and plot.

Sounds interesting. I can tolerate almost anything. (Except smut, etc)
Thank you~
