Hm.. I'm looking for manga (of manhua, manwha, etc.. Hopefully I spelled those correctly) with a female character that isn't especially 'lady-like' so to speak.. I don't just mean being a tomboy, although I suppose you could consider it that too.. But things like being gluttonous, or lack of manners, being perverse, etc... Just things that one wouldn't generally consider to be behavior befitting of women (or at least if your have an older way of thinking).

Preferably in a leading room, but at least prominent enough so I can actually see them and their character develop..

Um..... I think I'm good with any genre, except I'd prefer not to get an yaoi suggestions.. Not in that mood for that atm. =x Everything else should be fine with me.

If I missed a category or something this could fit under please let me know.

Thank you in advanced. I honestly appreciate it..

Um.. I'm not sure what else to say, I'm kind of distracted by some other things right now so please excuse my lack of my usual, er.... Well, let's just say I'm asking in a less regulated and polite manner than usual I guess. Thanks again..? ^-^

Seconding Gintama.
Also, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds, by Hayao Miyazaki, both anime and manga (Nausicaä and Kushana are incredibly badass).
Bouken Erekitetou.
Switch Girl builds it's premise on that.
[m]It's Not My Fault That I Am Not Popular[/m] is also pretty hardcore with this trope.
Half Prince features a pubescent would-be man-eater, and another chinese manga, School Shock has a younger version of the Major from Ghost In The Shell. GITS in any of it's iterations might do it as well.

Nyan Koi! has more than one character like this.

There's also a large amount of shoujo featuring non-normative female leads. Shoujo Kakumei Utena would probably be a good example. If you want to look at classics, Versailles no Bara is a good one.

HWANG Mi-Ri has many manhwas that have main female leads that are unlady like such as Hot-Blooded Woman and Boy of the Female Wolf.

Nodame Cantabile definitely, the female is extremely eccentric. She's a complete slob.

2nd Hourou Musuko, though she's more of a tomboy who actually wants to become a guy.

Kisshou Tennyo - female is quite a scary character even though most people are fooled by her 'proper' behavior.

Umimachi Diary - one of the female leads is an alcoholic, and her sister is quite eccentric as well

Bambi The main character is pretty much the extreme opposite of all female cliches/stereotypes.

Joe from Bakuretsu Tenshi is a lot like the male leads of various Seinen or Shounen mangas, she doesn't talk much and kicks ass. Unfortunately the manga is only a prequel to the show, which apart from Joe's character was pretty bad (or at least I thought so... didn't stop me from watching the whole thing though).

I would defiantly second Gintama, pretty much none of the women are cliched. Can't think of anything else unfortunately, I am also always looking for manga with non stereotypical female characters.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I'd love to go through and look at all your suggestions and then comment on what I'm probably going to read and such, but I'm a little busy with something that suddenly came up. =x

So instead I'll have to look through them as I read them instead.. So I guess I'll be reading pretty much everything that was suggested. Thank you again, I honestly appreciate your responses. ^-^

One more - Beauty is the Beast. Untypical female lead, unconcerned with her looks, a bit tomboyish, instead of being jealous of a love rival she makes friends with her, has no clue that the boy who likes her isn't interested as just a friend, etc.
