Hi everyone

I have been reading manga for quite a while now and was wondering if there were any completed epics out there that I haven't read or stumbled across yet. You can get a rough idea of what I have read or have started reading by looking at my lists. Though, I have not been entirely faithful in keeping it up to date! A lot of titles I read in my early years are not listed ><

I guess what defines an "epic" is really up to the individual but I will be happy to take on any suggestions.

Probably what I am looking for is a series that makes you think something like, "OMG! I can't believe you haven't read that yet!"

I don't usually read yaoi/yuri/shounen-ai/shoujo-ai and am unlikely to pick up a series in those genres.

Thanking you all in advance! biggrin

Suggestions so far:
Eden: It's an Endless World!
Mushishi
Aria
Pet Shop of Horrors
Akira
Hoshi no Samidare
Ai-Ren
Melo Holic
Bio-Meat: Nectar
Hikaru No Go
Ashita no Ousama
Kiseijuu
Vampire juujikai
Touch
Moon Child
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Angel Sanctuary
Karin
Full Moon wo Sagashite

Feel free to keep them coming, not only for me but for others who may be looking in! smile wink grin

Now some these aren't epics; an epic (to me) is where we have a hero who goes on a long quest or journey to save the world. However, the ones listed that aren't epics fit in the "I can't believe you haven't read this yet!?!?!!" Category.

Kiseijuu
Historie
Bio-Meat: Nectar
Hikaru No Go
Ashita no Ousama
Berserk
Claymore
Piano no Mori
Magi
Vinland Saga
Glass Mask
Liar Game

Thank you! I've started reading Eden. It's great so far eyes
I'll list all suggestions up on the first post.

I've watched the animes for both Mushishi and Aria so I'll save those for a rainy day. biggrin
Thank you sooo much for suggesting Pet Shop of Horrors. That was one of those titles I was supposed to read years ago but it somehow slipped my mind. I'll be sure to check it out this time!

I've watched Akira too but I'm guessing the manga is a completely different experience!
I'll definitely check it out, thank you!

Yes, I do like romance. bigrazz
I actually started reading Hoshi no Samidare earlier this year. Never got round to finishing it though, can't remember why...
Thanks for the other two suggestions - I'll check them out.

I have actually read Hikaru no Go - not sure why it wasn't on my lists before - but it's there now!
I also have a sneaking suspicion that I have read Ashita no Ousama as well, I just can't remember - I'll have to read it (again?) to find out!
Thank you though, I'll take my time going through your list smile wink grin

Yeah, I've read that. A series I would recommend too!

A bit late into the fray, but I'd like to participate too. However, I'd like to ask you what did you mean by epic because, well, epic is some overly used word lately.

Do you mean epic as the greatly great scope of the story? Or when the characters undertook overly long, windy, journey? Or where the story line became immensely complex (with twist that twisted the main twist while twisting other twist)? Or something that gives magnificent emotional fascination?

For the first case, toriyama akira's dragon ball is pretty epic,
for the second case, kino no tabi might be the one (although i'm not sure it got a manga version),
for the third case, urasawa naoki's monster is something that must not be missed,
for the fourth case, daisuke igarashi's majo is my favorite.

Other that those definition, people can say other meaning of epicness, therefore other recommendation can be made. it's just that for every pinpointing, elaboration is required.
