What I'd really like to know is Isshin's backstory, since he's obviously a former captain, but not even Yamamoto recognized the name Kurosaki when Ichigo showed up. How did he fly so far under the radar? That's been bugging me since he saved Kon.

Kurosaki may easily be Masaki's surname or perhaps some alias that Isshin picked up. I don't remember anything that says that Kurosaki MUST be the original name that Isshin has carried for the whole of his existense.

I have this odd feeling that Isshin may be even older than Yamamoto in Spirit Years. Something about him is just different. Same with Ichigo's mama. Kubo has some explaining to do. There's something bigger going on in this story than what's being led on.

Also, your point 1s latter part seems directed at my post above, but I wasn't talking about Grand fisher when I was referring to the hollow that Rukia should have beaten. If I assume wrong, well.. my bad.

I was talking generally about Grand Fisher. Creating an equivalence between Masaki and Rukia, were they to both be shinigami.

Another pressing issue I have is the exact date of the Quincy extermination. Was it back with Juhabach 1000 years ago, or was it later, in the past few centuries. It seems strange that they would kill off the entire group except for one family and then let that family keep passing their skills down through the generations for 1000 years. The Ishida family had 4 generations since Urahara was exiled (assuming Souken's parents were still alive 100 years ago). Why would only one family be chosen to survive, and why would the dangerous Quincies not be imprisoned, while the harmless Souken was captured and dissected by the Research Bureau? None of the backstories make any sense.
