It was where the story was that the main girl character does fall for the first guy she sees, and goes after him successfully becoming his friend. His best friend, a male, tries to prevent her from dating him, it is implicated he might have a thing for the guy too. The main male, however, ends up falling for another girl and going out with her, leaving the other two at a loss and they hang out together since the supposed main male is with the other girl.

The main female has light hair, big eyes, happy disposition. Guy she falls for has black hair. Best friend of guy has light hair as well, seen as "mean" for a while. The girl the black haired guy goes out with supposedly has red hair? I think that was it, or it was brown, but it's medium colored.

I cannot remember the name of this manga to save my life. 😢 Much obliged to whoever can tell me, and I am open to other suggestions of nontypical shoujo mangas because I like the romance, I'm just tired of it being the first dang guy they see!

Tonari no Atashi for an "untypical" romance. Although it seems typical at first.
