Hi! I'm looking for a manga/manhwa that has a deep impact when you finish reading it. For example: Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan, Love Story, Killed, Kagen no Tsuki, Adolte and Adarte, Omoide Emanon, or Flowers of Evil.

I gave a lot of examples so I can better show what I mean. I'm looking for something that doesn't necessarily have to be romance related, but has an ending that just ties it all up in a chaotic, emotional bundle. An ending you wouldn't have expected, and it's just so tragic.

Spreading it out:
-not too terribly long that it drags. Decent length, enough for the storytelling
-something for the thoughtful reader
-beautiful art that goes perfectly with the story
-a unique story with an ending that just makes your head explode
-characters that stand out, helping the story flow and finding a way to where it all comes together—the ending.
-twists and turns enough to get you lost
-and, uh... Hopefully some one dies. Some one important to the story.
-hopefully a story that doesn't center on romance but if it does it's fine.
-hopefully completed *crosses fingers*
-NO: ecchi, hentai, shounen-ai, shoujo-ai, etc.

Sorry if I sound too nitpicky! >.< it's just so hard to find good pieces lately that maybe other people might have a better clue.

Thank you!

Hmm... Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari? It's very tragic, not so long and it has good art. Maybe you'll enjoy it ^^

I've read it =( It was an okay piece, nowhere near my top but nowhere near my bottom either. Thanks though!

Haha, yeah, I thought the same about it. But oh well, it's the only one I could think of.
I don't read a lot of tragedies (I'm such a crybaby that I tend to avoid them so I won't dehydrate), but if I find anything else, I'll be sure to tell you.

I'm not really into tragedies, but I read some every now and then.
These might not be as deep as you might want and I'm just naming some of the tragedies that really made an impression, but give them a try!
Heaven's Door (Hongou ...) sorry i forgot the authors name
Daddy long legs
Koizora
Bokura ga Ita
Nana
Nemurihime - Yume Miru You ni Koi Shiteru *loved it*
The Demon Ororon *pretty good*

ES - not sure if ending is completely out-of-the-blue, but fits pretty well the other requirements.

Saishuu Heiki Kanojo
Hoshi no Koe
Ai Ren
Full Moon wo Sagashite (actually love the anime more)
Calling You (I recommend both versions)
Made in Heaven
After School Nightmare

Sorry they're all romance though ^.^

Thanks so much! I've read Heaven's Door and heard of most of these but as I'm so picky, I tend to shy away from popular, well-known manga for some reason. Also, one of those recommendations, forgot which one, is actually by one of my favorite mangakas<3 So, definitely reading that! It all sounds pretty interesting, but I just can't stress enough: no, no, no(none!) shounen-ai or shoujo-ai. It's not my cup of tea.

The only one that I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is SaiKano.

Just finished reading Banana Fish. It was a wonderful tragedy. Very long, but wonderful. There are some hints of shounen-ai, but it's actually up to the reader to decide if the characters were actually in love or not, so maybe you'll want to try it.

Bokurano is the first thing that comes to mind, and seconding Gunslinger Girl.

Also...
Bradherley no Basha
Clover (Clamp)
Omae ga Sekai o Kowashitai nara
Snow in the Dark (the title oneshot, the others are silly fun, not tragic)
Usotsuki Mi-kun to Kowareta Ma-chan: Totteoki no Uso

And, unfinished, but Satougashi no Dangan wa Uchinukenai seems to be shaping up to be a good psychological tragedy.
