potential spoilers!

Well, other manga and movies have used us to the thought, that vampires are the ultimate predators, the top of the food chain. In Trinity Blood, we have also Krusniks ( or Krusnicks, depending on the scanlators/subbers ), that prey on vampires. And they are really powerfull...
The thing is...what's with the "nanomachine" thing and their numbers? They seem to be artificially created, ok fine, but what was the purpose of their creation?

Does anyone know of manga/books/movies with the appearance of creatures praying on vampires?

I think I simply wanted to open a discussion about Krusnik(s) smile

I think in the Blade movies there was some weird creatures that fed on vampires.

And btw, I think the mangaka that wrote/drew Trinity Blood died (forgot what happened exactly) before he could finish the manga. Too bad as it was pretty interesting.
That is why the anime ends with nothing being resolved.

well you know if you google up Kresnik, it's actually some kind of pegan deity that fights evil or something along those lines. hehe it's been a while since I googled it so I cant remember. it's kinda interesting...TB used a lot of historic and mythical names/beings in the series...I mean the vampire race called themselves something like "methuselah" which is the supposely the oldest person who ever lived according to the bible...

oh and TB was originally a novel, that although the original author died is being continued by the author of Ragnarok. and if you watch the anime...it actually goes back and forth (sorta) between the two storylines of TB (Rage Against the Moons and Reborn on Mars) Basically if you watch the anime, if Ester shows up in the ep then it's "reborn on mars" and if she doesnt its "rage against the moons" (this is of course based on personal observation after reading vol 1 of Rage against the Moons)

@xtr3m3dude - right! russian vampires have created some level2 vampires, that fed on normal vamps. they had hearts closed in a cage of bones, neurotoxine in their fangs and really creepy mouths...and they didn't react to EDTA ( lol, actually that was a total bullshit anyway, like EDTA would be really blowing the cells up...laugh )

@nanashi - more like vamps and weres are arch enemies...

@aikoaiko - thanks for the explanation about the storyline, I was kinda lost in it. and yeah, Methuselah was supposed to have lived 1000 years.
Kresnik, Krusnik, Krusnick...gosh >.<

The novel (or maybe the anime too to some extent, not sure) actually explains that the Crusnik nanomachines are a special type of 'alien' nanomachine encountered by the Mars colonization project which fed on the infected cells of the Methuselah virus (which was also found by them). Abel and the other Crusniks, being modified and supposedly perfect humans, were able to take them while everyone else died upon being injected with them. Instead, the modified humans became Crusnik and the normal ones were infected and became the first Methuselah with the Crusniks basically being totally immortal in age whereas the Methuselah are simply very physically fit humans who's immune system and general body are improved to such an extent that they can live far longer than normal humans. Which were oppressed on their return to Earth and thus the war, etc. With Abel being the leader of them and attempting to wipe out humanity. etc etc etc: Begin current TB timeline.

been a long time since i watched the anime, but wasn't the nanomachines and vampires made by humans before the great war? created with stronger bodies for colonization of planets with harsh environment... at least the krusniks were, i remember abel explaining that

Way late but... The anime explains that Abel and the other Krusniks were artificially created humans. They were tube babies, basically, created to be 'perfect'. Health, intelligence, physical ability, etc. Which is why they could survive having the nanites injected into their body but also why Abel grew to hate humans, even before they became vampires and whatnot they were oppressed because they weren't truly human and so people viewed them as cattle or the like.
