Okay... if there's one thing that School Rumble does best it's winding you up and then laughing at you when the conclusion turns out to be the opposite. This chapter was the perfect example for this.

From the beginning it's looking very much like Harima is confessing to Yakumo, but it turns out he just wants to keep making manga with her. Then at the end he sees Tenma and Karasuma and gets all worked up, leaving Yakumo in the dust.

It's stuff like Harima's one-track mind that keeps me slapping my forehead at the end of each chapter. Sure he's grown a lot since the first volume, but it keeps coming back to Tenma.

I'm also kind of disappointed that Eri has spent the whole time in the sidelines, save for that one ball-kicking incident.

I actually gave up on SR somewhere around chapter 217 or so.

I just got tired of the bone-headedness of the characters. I had nothing to do yesterday and managed to read up to 258.... I get the feeling the mangaka himself doesn't know how to conclude it. Harima has the potential to be a very cool character, but his one-track Tenma mindset is starting to bore me. I'm sure of all the readers, no one wants him to end up with her.

He should just hook up with Tai nee-chan (the nurse)..... And he should shave away that stupid hige and get a haircut.

Cheerz!

By the way.... whatever happened to Natsu no Arashi, the other series scanlated by Townsocks (same mangaka)??

somehow, a disappointing chapter

Spoiler (highlight to view)
the almost Yakumo confessing to Harima was good, after all it would have been an advance, instead Harima goes after Tenma... and Eri giving up on Harima... seemed a little bit unlike Eri. The male (Harima,Hanai) characters are just... if you throw a rock in their head, the rock will split, probably so will do everything in the world, no matter how hard it is

I'm not disappointed by this chapter at all. I would have been if Harima decided to start seeing Yakumo. Like Eri said, is his love for Tenma so weak that he would go out with someone else just because they confessed to him. If Harima decides to choose Yakumo or Eri (even though it looks like she has moved on, which I think is for the better), then it should be because he truly wants to be with one of those two. Going out with those two just because he can't be with Tenma would be wrong for everyone. Before he can be with anyone else, he needs to REALLY give up on Tenma, and be happy with the person he chooses to be with (whether it's Yakumo or Eri). This chapter should set up once and for all what's going to happen. Harima has decided to see this through to the end. When Tenma and Karasuma (that bastard) reach the goal, either Tenma and Karasuma are going to get together (which would mean that Harima will probably move on) or Karasuma will tell Tenma what's going on and decide to leave.

I personally hope for the latter. The first thing that needs to be taken into consideration, is that this is High School. Relationships here will probably last for what, until they graduate (1 year). Karasuma should realize this. It would benefit both of them if he were to just end things with Tenma. He's going to America, he's dying, he probably won't ever see Tenma again, and even if they do see each other again, he won't be able to say anything to her. Just staying friends at this point will be best for both of them. Tenma, as dumb as she is, will understand this. Besides, I've always wondered what it is exactly that made her fall in love with him in the first place.

Sure, the first thing that get people together is the attraction factor, but what else has Karasuma done that made her feelings of attraction develop into feelings of love. To me, all of these feelings have developed because of something Harima had something to do with one way or another. I mean, everything revolving Tenma's birthday wouldn't have happened if Harima didn't choose Tenma's happiness over his own (telling Karasuma about her party, you know that killed him inside). And he could have chosen to confess to her just now, but he knew that Tenma would have been happier walking with Karasuma, then hearing his confession. The way I see, it's about time Harima gets something for all the things he has done, even at the cost of his own happiness. Whether that means getting with Tenma, or getting with someone else he loves, something needs to go right for him. It's way overdue at this point.

Disappointing chapter, had its really, really good parts, but Harima suddenly doing a total 180 all over again is just a huge slap in the face. Agreed, he shouldn't give up so easily, but still that was WAY too short-term to even be considered giving up, really makes his character seem more shallow.

Personally, I feel like it would be more weird if Tenma and Harima actually ended up together after all the one-sided, unsuccessful effort(?) from Harima. I'm not sure if I can really call it an effort since it's not like Harima asked Tenma out on dates or anything.

I want the mangaka to let the unlikely couple flourish for a little while atleast. Tenma and Harima, I mean.
Karasuma used to be my favourite, and I was at one point rooting for him and Tenma, but Harima just kept growing on me! Now I want to see Harima be happy for a bit~ By now I think he deserves it. To be with Tenma, I mean.
I don't think he should have to compromise anymore at this point.
