i mostly enjoy independent artists, they are the ones still striving for success, putting in quality music to build a fanbase, not bound by the standards that the record labels set for them.

My taste in music ranges. I like jrock, jpop, alternative, rock (all kinds), metal, etc. I basically like anything that isn't rap, country, or R&B.

ummm I really like showtunes. The lyrics mean so much more to me with context. and i find the quality of the lyrics to be much better.

then after or along side that is Heavy Metal?? I don't really get these 'type' things.

Basically anything that isn't super-heavy-metal-rock with all the yelling and screaming or rap that doesn't have a rhythm or beat, that's just plain talking. Also, overuse of swears turns me off.

But other than that, I like soundtracks, classic rock, and folk-style music, like Vienna Teng.

Rock and as in rock I mean English rock, Polish rock, bit of American rock. Jrock, too, of course. Some pop singers. I'm actually pretty okay with hip-hop, as long as the lyrics aren't about smoking pot or whatnot. And that's pretty hard to find, but thankfully we have Kanye West.
And tec hno is a no-no, my head hurts after listening to it. I'd rather take trash metal over it none
