Our current poll could use a logical follow-up as web comics are on the rise too.
Do you read any of the translated web comics listed on MU?
Lots!
Maybe a couple
Used to, not anymore
Never had, probably never will
MU had a poll years ago regarding comics and the last few years saw a change and in that field and the dominance of big budget comic adaptation. Batman+ Spiderman are in the top 10 grossing movie franchises of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is even No.01 and European comics as Tintin continue to be adapted too so they also count. New reader friendly reboots are constant and licensed comics as Avatar and Star Wars are common.
An avalanche of games and movie are coming so I ask the question:
Did you interest in comics rise in recent years?
I read more than before
I read about the same
I read less
Adaptions are enough for me
I have no interest in comics and never will

This current poll should have also had the option "?What translated web novels?" and a link to the area containing them for those like me that didn't know they existed or where they are!

If a series you're following has untranslated raws released, and it's been a long time since there's been a translation released, you would:
1. Read and look through the pictures even if you can't read the raws
2. Skim a tiny bit or only read one or a few chapters
3. Try not to read the raws, but ...

Mifish, what about also the options?
8. Approach a group to take it over.
and
9. Have a go at doing the scanlation yourself (with the help of a translator if needed) for at least one chapter.

That's something we won't be doing. "None of the above" isn't very interesting most of the time, and we'd rather you not vote at all then
No, it just means the alternatives given don't meet my conditions although the poll itself does.

Yeah sure.
I was mostly considering whether or not people choose to read the raws, otherwise the possibilities are endless, but of course those are great possibilities.

Has an opinion or view expressed in a manga ever noticeably influenced you?
- Yes, in a positive way.
- Yes, in a negative way.
- No, but it made me think about it.
- No, I don't look for a deeper meaning.

A U.N. envoy has recently said that Japan should ban child manga porn (http://www.japantoday.com/smartphone/view/national/u-n-envoy -calls-on-japan-to-ban-extreme-child-manga-porn).
Do you agree that loli and shota should be banned?
- Yes, of course. It's disgusting and promotes pedophilia
- No. Manga is just fiction and has nothing to do with real life.

Over the years most manga readers 'tastes' change!
?Has yours:-
1- Totally gone onto another 'path' from when you started;
2- Just become broader in genre;
3- Stayed mostly about the same, with a few 'sidesteps' added;
4- Got narrower in subject matter read;
5- Love too change, but time doesn't permit;
6- What's taste to do with it, I just read them.

When you see a complicated term:
- You gloss over
- You google and read the first thing that comes up
- You go from wiki to wiki, looking up everything about it and stuff related

I am not going to read all 142 pages of suggestions, but how bout poll readers genre preferences based on gender and ages. ie: women/men ages 18 and under, 19 - 25, 25 - 31, etc.
An every six year gap would probably result in different tastes in genres as your life experience increases and you grow (or, devolve, unfortunately, in some cases). Actually, it could be divided into multiple polls based on genre. Also, world events or my mood greatly influence my manga preferences. I have explored genres I don't generally tend towards, to look for something interesting to read that is relevant to current events. Also, as I've gotten older, plots based on "pure" relationships have become decidedly boring as I seek something more mature. (Basically, I find the "pure" thing childish, but then again, I'm not a kid anyway.) But that's just my thing. Everyone is different.
To sum up, when I was younger and started out, it was shoujo, then quickly led to josei/seinen, have wandered to shounen, then back to josei/seinen. Then it was (and still is) reading based on the plot basis, ie: horror, supernatural, mystery, etc., not the specified targeted audience of shoujo/shounen/josei/seinen.
Anyway, if it hasn't been done already. It's an idea!

It's kinda simple idea I had after reading some action based manga. Would you prefer the protagonist to be
1) strong from the start
2) weak to strong along the line
3) keep being weak but have strong comrades that protect him
4) doesn't really matter.
