Hi,

I have seen all of season 1 and maybe the first 7 episodes of the second. Is there any bigger story besides just helping people who use the box and if Medaka can't win them over she goes Super Saiyan and beats the crap out of them? I just kinda got confused with the whole secret club and this guy who is supposed to be King.

Also, does Zenkichi(I think that's his name) ever get stronger or is he always weaker than Medaka?

I will attempt to field this one.

Medaka is a unique existance in her series. Zenkichi is both her childhood friend and confidant. As far as the storyline goes, Zenkichi is the only Normal of the main cast.

I capp'd Normal because the story plot turns into something of a mess when describing characters and their significance. There are: Normal, Plus, Minus, Not-Equal and plain Abnormal. Those are all the ones I've seen so far. You have to get fairly deep into the manga for these things to make sense.

I haven't seen the anime and likely never will. The story pulls a Tenjo Tenge with reality. It's fun, but hard to follow at times.

P.S. Zenkichi is an incredible butt-kicker as far as Normals go, but by rote he will NEVER surpass Medaka.

Zenkichi does get stronger but how strong we don't know yet but anime does not go that far yet. Seems like something about Zenkichi is still hidden. He is supposedly normal but he was able to fight abnormals equally which is impossible for any normal to do. In the anime he is stronger but still weaker then Medaka but strong enough to hold her back (near end of season 2). Manga is way passed all that. He does have an alternative god mode like Medaka but how strong he is wasn't revealed yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled off a surprise saying Zenkichi was a born abnormal but his powers were supressed so that he can have a normal life. His mother is an abnormal.

yeah, there is a plot behind everything in medaka box, its just not given the importance as the whole shounen cliche trololol that the whole thing is.
but the thing is, the anime rushes things. it never skiped anything so far anything rest assured, but it does reduces some dialogs and things like that

and zenkichi eventualy becomes a abnomal or thats how should it have been if his abnormality was not another big shounen cliche trollage of the plot

Zenkichi will always be weaker than Medaka and it is unlikely he will ever become a true abnormal, special, minus, etc. I can't remember who but someone rather knowledge able (Medaka's brother maybe?) mentions that if Zenkichi did have an abnormality it would be being so normal, in other worlds he is abnormally normal.

It might be easier to think of Zenkichi as the secondary main character. he tends to beat up the minions, mini bosses, and second-in-commands but never beats the big bad of each arc (many times he does not even get a chance to try)

There is a plot, but like most serialized Shounen you only see small parts of it that are revealed for and to explain each arc.

That was Medaka's brother and thats what that doesn't make sense. If he is abnormally normal how is he able to fight on par with an abnormal with just training. Maybe its something he couldn't sense or sworn to secrecy. Even Naze (Medaka's older sister) sensed something and also trained him. If he is just normal there would be no point in training Zenkichi. Something definately is off about Zenkichi. How did he get Altered God Mode after he became president which was a trait only Medaka has till then?

Does medaka box ever get licensed in english?
