I was thinking recently about how satisfying it is when an argument leaves the opponent spluttering. I have my own, but it's just as satisfying hearing other people's. So if you've got a good one, please share. (Sorry if there's a thread for this already and I missed it.)

I could share a normal example from my own life, but this is what set me thinking; it's my dad's experience, and it's not exactly a verbal argument, more of a situation.

At my dad's work, there was this guy who was a total dick. He was complaining that my dad always got the best hours, and while my dad just let it roll of his shoulders, a coworker came over and told the guy, hey, his wife has cancer. They were giving my dad those hours so he could drive an hour to the major hospital she was at and visit her, in between taking care of my 2 year old sister and newborn me. It's an old story, but I'd only heard it recently. It's so rare and satisfying for a jerk to actually feel like a total jerk. I guess that guy was all flustered after, asking "why didn't you tell me?" and goes out of his way to be nice to my dad even now, 20 years later.

Oh, my God. That story's ending sounds so satisfying. Haha, you win.

My parents did not have the greatest marriage. They loved each other, but life really hit them hard. Anyway, my dad used to always ask me, "Who do you love more, me or your mom?" I always had to tell him that I loved them both equally, and I would get into trouble every time. When I say always, I mean always. My dad asked me once almost every week, and he asked multiple times a week for a small period of time when I was in grade school.
One day, my mom asked me the question for the first (and last) time. I was so tired of saying my regular line that I said, "I love God more." She frowned, and begrudgingly said, "That's right."

I'm still proud of that to this day.
