Hi!
I'd make me very happy if someone could recommend me, as the topic suggests, a new-ish shounen (or seinen) manga to read. I stopped reading manga a few years ago due to crazy Uni schedule and now that I have the time again, I have no idea where to even start, there are so many new series...

Mangas I loved in the past:
Fullmetal Alchemist
Pandora Hearts
Gunnm
Death Note
Hikaru no Go
Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle
Mirai Nikki
Saiyuki
Ito Junji's works

So basically, adventure and supernatural elements with a touch of creepy smile
Thanks in advance!

If you read Fullmetal Alchemist, then you might find Gin no Saji (same author) interesting.

Tower of God One of the best story manga out there. (Don't let starting deceive you).

Noblesse Free of shonen cliches. A great read.....Starting is somewhat weird in both terms of art & story so please bear with that. (I would suggest you to read this in one-strip format for best experience .... check it out on Batoto.net or egscans.com )

Akame ga Kiru! Another one of the best shonen out there.

Feng Shen Ji A great read.....A mix between shonen and seinen

These series are from 2008 onwards:
Gate 7: I see you like Tsubasa, so maybe you want to try newest piece by Clamp. Unlike other Clamp series, it's rather slow paced but still interesting IMO.
Shuumatsu no Laughter: mini series by Tanabe Yellow, only 5 chapters long.
Zetsuen no Tempest
Arthur Pyuty wa Yoru no Majo

Pre-2008, but the scanlation just started around 1-2 years ago:
Jin
Verdant Lord

In my head Magi is the spiritual successor to FMA, since it's probably the only ongoing typical shounen that I like. Much better than the most popular shounens, as the rating suggest it. I strongly recommend it.

Also, these are some of my favorites:

Other shounen:
Chrno Crusade
Vampire Juujikai
Ares

Other seinen:
Shin Angyo Onshi
Elfen Lied
Ookami to Koushinryou if you want an excellent seinen more dialogue driven than plot driven.
Vinland Saga

I realized that beside Magi they're not very recent, but still maybe you missed some of them. :=)

You have to read Tripeace. I love the art style, not to mention the plot twists.

Really awesome at first... becomes convoluted and crappy IIRC...
