I've heard that Takano Ichigo quit drawing manga, is this true? I've also checked Betsuma for info on it, but it appears that Orange didn't appear in the latest issue and Takano Ichigo's profile was removed from the list of Betsuma mangaka.

I hope she can continue this work in another magazine if it's true. This is the only shojo I am currently following....Please don't let it be true.

I don't know if she really quit though. 2ch isn't the most reliable source and she deleted her blog, so we don't have a source for the 2ch information. Apparently the last time the Orange info page on Betsuma was still active was 6 February this year, but it's gone right now. But news blogs and stuff about Orange and Takano Ichigo are still viewable on Shueisha, so I'm not too sure. I'm also not very clear on Betsuma's whole manga policies and what not since I don't follow any Shueisha series very actively, so I can't confirm anything about irregular publishing or histories of things like this happening.
I have a couple of friends on Tumblr who are wondering about this so I was thinking people here might know.

And how would people know aside from what's published on the web? As far as I know the author said she was quitting being a manga author after she finished Orange.

Yes, it looks like she is quitting. She said that don't wanna be mangaka anymore. There's too much pression. She deleted her blogs and all about Orange was deleted from Betsuna's website. She also said that before quitting she'll finish Orange but when chapter 9 was released they said that won't be new chapter in january and happened the same in february and now her vague on Betsuma's magazine was filled by other mangaka and other story. We may have lost an incredible and potential manga.
Unfortunelly there wasn't any announcement.

Just checked out my calendar and isn't 4/1, which is very bad. It could be that I'm kinda paranoid, but isn't the first time a good series is on mysterious hiatus lately.

I guess: people prefer junk or there must be a very big troll inside manga world.

Yeah, as I said, too much pression. And as I said, she said that before quitting she was going to finish Orange, but now we aren't certain anymore.

Noo... T.T
That means I have to imagine the next chapters of Orange myself.. sad
Wish i could read the mangaka's mind.
If that is so, let it be. Good things come our way after a bad thing has happened.. Blessing in disguise i say..
POSITIVITY!!!

I saw some news in a manga review blog saying that Takano Ichigo will publish a new series (called Re Collection) in a different magazine.

The blog I linked says the following:
"Orange's author will start a new series in a new magazine
Ichigo Takano, what the hell happened to you?
[...] Today there were news that left everyone shaken. The author, Takano Ichigo, will be starting a new series in the new magazine Gekkan Action, from Futabasha (the one which published Old Boy). It's weirds, since this new magazine will be a seinen one!
Takano Ichigo's debut will happen on the magazine's first issue, which will be released on April's 25th. The title will be "Re Collection" and apparently will tell the story of a teacher who has amnesia and a mysterious person who will show up. It's possible to see a article on the new magazine's official website. The magazine will be monthly [...]".

The rest of the text is speculation on what happened with Takano Ichigo and why she left the previous magazine she was publishing into.

I really didn't think it was true, but there are news on Gekkan Action (the magazine)'s website about this work of Takano Ichigo.

Does anyone know more about it?
Is it a belated April's Fools joke? bigrazz

Yeah, I follow this blog. Even so, I don't know what to think.
I guess all we can do by now is wait...

H0munculi, I can't tell whether you know how to read Japanese or just trying to sympathize with everyone... Whatever it is, i hope you'll take this lightly when i say I don't know where you stand... Shikkarishite.

Anyway just wanted to add my two cents to the thread:

Her new mag (and possibly her new serial) is SEINEN? +___+ <3
Even if the details aren't clear, I'm just excited for Re Collection and relieved that the hiatus wasn't due to scanlation! Orange is a seriously well-thought manga and it would be a damn shame if the series discontinued for good at chapter 9. I'm just glad Ichigo-sensei might still be willing to complete Orange bigrazz

Mangaka work schedules are notorious for being extremely stressful (this is probably what Homunculi was trying to say) and considering how lovely Orange is drawn and playing out its story, it's likely the author just couldn't balance from it. I'm going to trust what's written in this thread and in Ichigo-sensei's bio here in MU and believe that the author just didn't make Betsuma's deadline (and got fired and is on some sort of probation)... So the details of the continued publications seem complicated...

Chapter 10 was scheduled to release on February, and even though it's May with still no release, I can still totally be patient if it's this series. I hope Ichigo-sensei will continue drawing manga!

Thank you everyone for the extra tidbits and detailed info!

@eternalight I really don't get the point. Since I also love this serie I think is normal to give my opinion and reply other comments. I'm just telling what I searched and read, to inform those who dind't. This is what people call socialize and share opinions, not ‘sympathize with everyone‘. none
If you don't get what I said about Takano Ichigo-sensei you can try read this blog (the one @Hainelol mentioned).
