I'm a shoujo and josei reader so im ok with that.
Shounen and seinen I have no problems with since I read it occasionally.
Shounen ai im good with.
Shoujo ai and yuri I'm more iffy on.
Yaoi is when I suddenly feel like reading something different.
Hentai....idk if it's hate. I have nothing against ppl who read, just that I'm not one of them.

I'm staying out of this one.

I think the topic of this poll should have been reworded or at least add an option of "none, it's all a matter of taste"

there should be a follow up poll asking, "which do you read the least" as to compare the results since some ppl might just be posting b/c they just don't read it whereas others actually do hate it.

Everybody is a hater of some sort! I don't hate het romance myself, but I know yaoi fans who do. Het romance is just boring- not gross, not interesting, just...blah.

That's so stupid! By that guy's 'theory', all straight girls should also find yuri disgusting?? Okay, so yuri doesn't turn me on, but it definitely doesn't disgust me! Some people make such ridiculous statements...

I wanted to put Yuri or Hentai because those are the two genres I am interested in the least, but I didn't think it would be fair since I don't think I've ever read a single Yuri and I probably only read one or two Hentai just out of curiosity.
Trying to pick one I hate the most is hard because in amongst the rubbish, the painfully average and the irritatingly cliche, there's always gonna be a few awesome manga from each genre.
If I were to try and pick one genre I've read quite a few manga of which didn't suit my tastes as much as the others it would have to be seinen. The manga from that genre don't tend to make my 8+ ratings list. So that's the one I've picked.
But honestly, it's not 'hate' it's just 'taste'.

Agreed. Each genre has the potential to be either too cliche or to be a great story regardless of romantic pairings or genre. I've read good and bad mangas from each demographic. This is also one of my least favorite polls Baka-Updates has done in a while. It's not surprising that Yaoi is getting majority of votes. Unfortunately yet obviously, majority of the human population still has a 'homophobic' mentality...

As other members stated, why didn't you guys add a neutral option? Why didn't you add the option xxxTokineko suggested (aka "I love all of them!") for this poll ?

I wonder if the reaction posts on this thread would even be here if the results went a different way, because lets face it, most of them are butthurt fujoushis who somehow are just realizing that most people don't like what they like.

It is useless data when you are asked to say what you hate. It really changes nothing whether the option is or is not present, just like if the poll asked what is the best opera house and you'd demand an option for you never being in one. It would be there only to please the person answering, but wouldn't help the poll at all. The question is not what you don't hate.

There's also people who will (correctly) vote against Shoujo, because 99% of it has as much originality as a dog being taught to fetch a stick.

Oh please Even the most naive yaoi reader knows that the material is not for everyone. Have you even read the thread because that hardly describes the variety of responses we've seen so far. I could honestly care less whether or not yaoi is the genre that people are least likely to read (which is how the question should have been worded). It's not for everyone and I understand that. Heck, I don't like yuri and I pretty much despise hentai, but I chalk it up to taste obviously. I don't fault anyone for not finding interest in a subject matter that's not appealing to them. It's only rational.

Yaoi, like every other genre, has its flaws, but in that way it's no different from any of the other poll options. Yuri and shoujo ai are also about same-sex relationships and yet they have much smaller number in voters. Why is that? My beef with some of the responses is that people are unfairly maligning the genre not because of content alone, but because they have issues with yaoi fandom. And that silly, simplistic poll doesn't reflect that. But you keep on painting those broad strokes.
