Looks like Naruto-Sasuke are actually alot like Hashirama-Madara...one friend going on the dark path while the other tries to helplessly convince him to return
I feel that all the trouble was caused due to Tobirama and his big mouth...
But it's kinda cool knowing it was Madara who actually named the village

Was a horrible cliche chapter that i highly disliked. Hashirama is too "good" to be true and madara just became a cliche evil character. The only real thing about this entire flashback was tobirama. He is the most "real" out of everyone and actually displays emotions people would actually have. Unlike the naive, everything will be okay hashirama or the die everyone i don't belong here madara.
Also...are you kidding me? Hashirama, there is no way he would just die like that. I kind of guessed he would end up killing himself, what kind of monster would he be if he killed his flesh and blood brother for an uchiha that's bent on killing everyone? But that was so cliche. If he wanted to truly kill himself, he could easily give himself a great death with some sort of mokuton. A kunai to his stomach? It's like he was asking madara to stop him...come on thats not guts that's called "making himself look good because he knows he won't die"

Ehm.. Perhaps i missed it. But does Hashirama actually have mokuton at this point yet? Because that might be one of the reasons he choose a kunai.

I am quite annoyed that he was about to commit suicide right then and there for Madara.

he definitely has the mokuton already...
I was pissed too. He's the leader of a "country" and he suicides for madara?

I know Hashirama is the one narrating this flashback and there are certain things he wouldn't know, but I feel like the most interesting story in this flashback just got skipped over. Namely, all the resentment that developed toward Madara. While Hashirama was being all idealistic about things, there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff that he was ignoring (the Uchiha turning away from Madara, the entire village mistrusting him, Madara losing the position of Hokage, etc.).
Kishimoto should have done a whole "what I didn't know at the time was..." and filled in some of the blanks instead of focusing the whole chapter on perfect Hashirama. We already knew before this he was ridiculously idealistic, didn't need to see any more of it.
Since the whole conflict in the past was based on what happened to Madara, and since he is our major villain, we definitely needed to see more of that evolution into a bad guy with him. (Why bother with the flashbacks then, and not just leave it in the present with the explanation that all Uchihas are crazy?) One second he's being cooperative and Hashirama thinks they'll get their friendship back, the next Kishimoto is ending the chapter on his evil crazy face.

Well what do you expect? Uchiha are bipolar beings, happy for a second and then angry for a whole generation. We've seen it a billion times through other Uchihas exception being Itachi.
What a cliched flashback. I hope it ends soon because I don't see the point of it anymore.

On the Mokuton subject, wasn't it established in the chapters where Madara is owning the five Kages that the Mokuton heals Hashirama automatically? That was the whole basis for Tsunade's seal technique... automatic healing like her grandfather.
PS: I still want to see Hashirama's disappointing son or daughter before this flashback is over.

Uhm...i don't get the Mokuton question...
Does Hashirama already have Mokuton...duh!
How else do you think he kicked the shit out of Madara?
The real question is, when does the fight they show where Madara is controlling the Kyuubi happen?
Was it before the Senju-Uchiha truce or is it the final fight between Hashirama and Madara(The one at the Valley of the End, where statues of the two were later erected)

Basically madara can control the kyuubi as soon as he gets his mangekyou after izuma died. And gave him his eyes. It was before the truce. But he didn't know he had the power yet. He just obtained it. That's my theory at least.

actually the battle with him using the nine tails has already been stated to have been after he left the village so thats coming up and that takes place at the final valley where he dies or was assumed to have died as we all know he survived possibly to do with Hashirama?

In another aspect Kishimoto is showing us how in the vastness of things how the unfortunate gamble of genetics is always overlooked when people conflict and don't try to understand which leads to the viscous cycle we see through the generations.

I knew the flashback was going to take a few months. Sigh, I hate it when I'm right about such things
