... I couldn't think of a decent title, so hopefully my explanation makes more sense.
In every shounen and shoujo I've read, the there's always a main guy and a main girl who end up "together", or close, or something.
With shounen, especially mainstream like Jump, if there is any romance, it's between the two main characters. If there's the only ones it's fine, but sometimes... well, something different would be nice to see.
In shoujo, there's always a nicer guy who comes along later, but of course the chick goes for the jerk/pervert/retard/etc.
Are there any mangas/manhwas that break this cycle? I personally prefer shounen with romance as a side plot (like Rave Master), but shoujos with smart characters are fine too. I really just would like to see something that differs from the "Welp, main characters, we'll know who'll end up with who, let's just argue for sake of it."
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if it all fits but maybe:
Kanojo no Namida ga Yuki da Toshitara - This is really nice!
Heroine Shikkaku
Cheese in the Trap
Flowers of Evil - You may find this annoying at first but it's actually not bad.
Ghost Hunt - Romance is just a side plot.
Wasure Yuki (AMANO Shinobu) - Not really fits but I really love this one.
Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan - This is really nice too~
Bara no Tame ni
Romantica Clock
Last Game

Warau Kanoko-sama
It's in the perspectives of a 'side character' scoffing and observing main shoujo couples.

Principal by Ikuemi Ryo. Some scenes have even moved me to tears.

Dengeki Daisy both characters are really smart and is a nice story.
Renren Zakari- the first shoujo that i had read that the heroine doesn't end up with the jerk.

Maybe Onani Master Kurosawa - the main 2 characters do not get romantically involved. Romance occurs with/around other people.
I think you should try Molester Man (even if romance is main point and not side point).

Try Ratman. There are actually two female protagonists and the romance occurs with the 2nd one of them. So it's not obvious from the start.

Thanks! I'll check those out; ya'll are really helpful.
I'm reading that one and well, I think he's a jerk, but a likable one lol.
Read that one and its sequel; there's also a jerk but I really like both shoujos because of the deviousness of the main girl.
