Quote from Strixflash in conversation about ch 536
Maybe Vandenreich were responsible for her death in some way.
And we have a winner. Though it makes very little sense how exactly. I'm not sure if it just seems that way due to it being bs or because the translation team was in a boxing match just before and recieved a concussion and couldn't make sense of the conversation. And then Uryu in the end siding with the guy that killed his mom... I think confused ?? confused

Can see from a mile away that Ishida is just pretending and will strike when he can....maybe even get stronger before he does that, or Kubo will troll and make some shit up.

I guess it was obvious that Vandenreich's head was involved. In every arc of Bleach, Ichigo needs a reason to fight the villains. In SS arc, Ichigo fought Byakuya as he was allowing his sister's execution. Ichigo fought Ulquiorra as he abducted Orihme. He fought with Aizen as he was trying to destroy Karakura town. Now that the final villain has appeared, Ichigo needs a strong reason once again. His mother's death is the best possible reason Ichigo can use for a power up.

Now Ishida is becoming Gin. I agree with Kaitentsuki that Ishida will power up and he will have to fight Ichigo & co. for showing off while giving some BS speech.

PS: I thought Ichigo's mom died 7-8 years ago even if we count 2 years timeskip.

uhmm...holy fuck...
As epic, devious, revenge-worthy and adrenaline rushing that revelation was, I do believe, like the rest of us that, that was a cliched way of making it personal for Ichigo.
But Hey! Kubo, atleast your cleaning up after yourself and tying up loose ends...

I hope now that kubo sensei does a decent job of getting his powers back , not just " I have resolve
So I will be a shinigami again"

Has ichigo really lost his powers? He's still got the ability to take Shinigami form, and he definitely still has the spiritual power. But without his zanpakutou, he can't shape it or direct it in anyway.

Now, given that he didn't build his zanpakuto on an asauchi, what base was it built upon? His hollow side? His Quincy side? His Human Side? He's a Human, Shinigami, Quincy Hollow hybrid.

More quincy history might be a little helpful here. They mention that pure blood quincies are born with innate blut vene, but then state that somehow Masaki was attacked by that hollow anyway. Is it because it was just that powerful, or did Aizen do something? They also mention that non full-blood quincy can learn to use blut vene as well, but don't mention whether they have to be descended from Yhwach, or just need to have his blood in them (maybe through some initiation).

He also seems to dislike "half-blood" quincy, but wouldn't just about every quincy have to be half-blood? or does that just mean that both their mother and father were quincy? So confusing. As is the fact that he's 1000 years old, yet has uniforms that remind me of WW1 or WW2 soldiers. Of course people in soul society don't seem to age either. The whole age thing seems to arbitrary.

To get back to the point, I am wondering what kind of powers ichigo will gain now, and of course, whether we'll get to see Zangetsu in all of his glory, and of course, maybe we might get to see a bankai from isshin, or urahara. And of course, we will need lots of epilogue to tie up stuff with the Shiba family. That may be getting ahead of myself though, as ichigo still has to get back into soul society, the royal palace, etc etc and get to the spirit king, who apparently is interested in him

I think he stole her powers from her during the fight and that is how grand fisher got the upper hand.

I got to say I am surprised that it wasn't aizen's doing this time. That seems to be his go to when bad stuff is happening to people.

Could be that she never knew they were taken, or that he didn't even have to directly go and "take them" from people, as the quincy all have his blood in them. He may have just done it all at the same time from the half-blood quincy, and as it was something innate, she may have never noticed her powers were gone, until they didn't work.

Of course, she was a pure blood quincy, but after becoming part hollow, it's obvious that he wouldn't want her running around with quincy powers. Still, why take Uryu's mothers powers, which helped her stay alive, while not taking Uryu's powers? Or Ryuken?

I'll be suprised only if Uryuu switching sides is actually for real. The "join the enemy" stratagem is as old as dirt. I won't say that I "saw it coming" or that the joining itself was predictable, but the reasoning behind it seems obvious.

What gets me is the crazy implication behind the reveal. If Bach can basically drain the powers out of any Quincy that easily, then what are the limits of his power? Perhaps Ichigo's multiple-mixed blood heritage will protect him from this ability, but all other Quincies are just walking batteries and/or power up tokens for the guy.

They did say it took him 9 years to regain his powers, so it might not be that simple. It may take time for him to fully regain the power, which is why they waited until they did to invade soul society. Hueco Mundo was the test run, in case his power wasn't fully returned. I would like to know what makes him so different, and of course, what happens to quincy when they die, as they have not shown any quincy in soul society as of yet. Makes you wonder what happened to Katagiri and Masaki. Were they chopped up in experiments?

I do have to admit that his treatment of his subordinates is pretty much like trash. They are just tools to be used up, and discarded. Makes me wonder why anyone would have followed him in the first place.

@Animephreak: If I had to guess why any Quincy would willingly follow such a man I would choose one of the two following ideas.

1) Its a Join me or Die sort of thing as he can strip Quincies of their powers with apparently very little ease he could just be holding their lives in the palm of his hand after all without their powers they can easily be crushed by the simplest of Hollows.

2) He has created a cause against the Shinigami's who once before committed a massive genocide and purge against the Quincies and the simple fact that this powerful man is able to make the Soul society pay in kind so that many Quincies choose to join what they think of as a righteous crusade of revenge behind a man who can deliver on his promises.

Sorry for asking but can anyone explain the timeline to me regarding Masaki's death. How come 9 years have passed?

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Masaki got hurt by Aizen's experiment when she was in high school (or at least in school), but was saved by Urahara. Then 9 years later after marrying Issin and having Ichigo and his sisters she was fighting the Grand Fisher to save Ichigo when Juha Bach took her Quincy powers. Thus she was defeated by the Grand Fisher

I always wondered why no one ever tried to teach him kido. He wouldn't be nearly as worthless as he is now if he could use byakurai (an insanely low level skill... it's #4 for God's sake

I think the point was that at that exact moment, Juhabach stole her powers away and she was unprotected... but there still seems to be some indication that Grand Fisher could have hurt her anyway.

"Half-blood" seems to mean that someone in their family tree wasn't a quincy, and so the child produced was not "pure-blood" and their line was broken. Kurosaki Masaki and Ishida Ryuken seem to have 1000+ years of every single person in the family being a pure-blood quincy. Ichigo, of course is a half-blood, and technically Ishida Uryu is a 3/4-blood...but not a pureblood. The Ishidas seemed to be obsessed with keeping their line pure, while others don't seem to have cared at all.

What might be interesting is that Ichigo and Uryu were also likely targets for Juhabach's power drain, and because he couldn't take it, or maybe couldn't take it all (in Uryu's case... he was always weaker than he probably should have been), they were placed in that special category with Zaraki Kenpachi and Aizen Sousuke ("Special War Powers" or whatever).
