There were parts of the story I was interested in but other parts didn't interest me at all. After I read the rose volume, I just kind of skimmed the rest. I did a lot of skimming trying to find out what happened to the main characters from the 1st volume, you know the iceman and his human childhood friend who wanted to become a trace so just so she could be reunited with him. I she got infected by that kid but that's all I know. Did they ever meet back up and if so what happened between them and what was their final fate?

I really recommend you go back and read it, it gets really interesting as everything starts to come together and you understand why there was so much jumping around from character to character in the first place. However, if you are sure you want the spoiler, see below.
Obviously this is a major spoiler.
Other stuff happens, of course, and you find out the reason for everything (kinda). You really should finish it, it is great.

They met back up in the final battle. The Iceman as you call him was helping to fight off a really powerful trace with the other protagonists (gun guy and the beggar mainly, organised by the creepy kid). After the girl was made into a Trace by the creepy kid she asked her friend to report her so she could experience what iceman did and understand why he changed, as well as end up in the same school as him.
While she was in prison she befriended everyone to prove that Trace's were human, and then during the final battle her friend, who turned out to be associated with the creepy kid, came and used some kind of space-warping power to take the girl to the ice man, who was basically in overload at this point and on the verge of dying from using his 'released'super powerful form for too long. Her power, which is some kind of red energy thing in her arms, negated his and his and he returned to normal.They embraced and it was explained that they represent some mythical siblings who were destined to be apart forever, but that destiny has been broken.
In the epilogue chapter the iceman is shown meeting up with the bully from his former school and his 'Dad' to meet the girl the day she is released.
