You know there's a category like that in the advanced search right?

Right ... But I'm searching for (Main) LGBT Characters ...

Better if the No.1 protagonist is LGBT ... in a Non-BL/GL Manga/Manhwa ...

Erm, that would be kinda illogical, isn't it? Since if they are the main characters, the story would revolve around them and that makes it a BL/GL manga/ manhwa? Even if it's at a lighter level it is still counted as loving the same gender? Or you can drop the romance tag then it wouldn't be "love" anymore.

I also thought of that, but I still (just) wonder if there's kinda like Manga/Manhwa ...

Or at least ... love subject is included a second or almost-non-important matter ... ?

Prunus Girl by MATSUMOTO Tomoki might fit as the main love-interest's gender is never confirmed. I don't read BL or GL manga, but I really enjoyed this ambigous romance because it deals with the topic in a comical, yet sensitive way. There are also LGBT beta couples.

If you are looking for a shounen or seinen manga (I dont really know about shoujo) that has a main character who is LGBT but reads mostly the same as one that doesn't (could be really off here, but I know I have been looking) there sadly doesn't seem to be much.
Young Gun Carnaval works and is an ok read.
Nickelodeon has various odd parings in shorts some of which are LGBT, but not really any development.
It could be different if you are looking for romance as the major theme, but otherwise as far as I have seen there is a sad lack of main LGBT characters.

Stray Little Devil
R.O.D - Read or Dream
Ghost in the Shell

I know one of the GitS mangas portrays The Major as bi, and I'm pretty sure it's that one. I could be wrong though.

Hmm I have never read any stories like that where "main prot. is LGBT and falls in love with another thinking he/she is of same sex but later finds that he/she isn't but can't help falling in love..." that plot looks kind of cute realistically speaking. I would like to read them if there are any. smile wink grin smile wink grin

You should just try looking in shounen-ai/shoujo-ai and omit yaoi/yuri if what you're looking for is an LGBT main character in a manga not focused entirely on romance. (Though of course there is some yaoi/yuri like that, but it's just easier to look in shounen-ai/shoujo-ai.)

Otherwise, definitely seconding Young Gun Carnaval and Nickelodeon.

For, non-BL/GL series...
Beautiful People (or, at least, the second oneshot in it, as far as I can remember)
Golden Days
Otona no Mondai
Shuuen no Shiori
Welcome to Room #305!

Also it's a bit of a spoiler but...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The recent chapters in Yuureitou seem to indicate that Tetsuo is trans*

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha. also has a fairly major female character who is in love with a girl. She's not the main character, but she appears often, and her romance is actually a fairly big plot point. As does 14-sai no Koi and Ame Nochi Hare (Bikke).

And for those labeled BL/GL but doesn't focus entirely on the romance...
A Night of a Thousand Dreams
Antique Bakery
Koujitsusei no Tobira
Tokyo Babylon
