Microsoft just announced that the Xbox One Will Not Restrict Used Games, Regions, Offline Games:

Quote
An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

Microsoft noted some qualifiers, similar to those for current consoles: "Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."

From here.

They've lost me regardless.
Sub par hardware and overpriced due to forced unwanted peripheral amongst other crap.

1) I probably won't be getting a first generation console because they are bound to be replaced by a smaller and possibly cheaper version. If I do have to get a console, I'll get the PS4 simply because it is cheaper and also it is not forcing a product (Kinect) down my throat for an extra $100 without knowing if I will be using it extensively or not.

2) I don't really care for the whole console war thing. I had a 360, PS3, and Wii all because they had something that I specifically liked about em. However, I think PS4 may have the edge because it didn't throw out an obviously moronic policy and retracts it. Also, it isn't shoving a product people may not want/need down their throat.

3) Watch Dogs and GTA5

4) A lot of things... mainly lack of overall creative games that appeal to me. Maybe I'm just jaded or getting older, lol.

I can't think of any good reason to buy a Magnavox Odyssey in the modern era, either. confused
Unless, of course, you mean eighth generation, which would be this upcoming one (unless you count the WiiU).

Anyway, it's times like these that make me glad that I'm a PC gamer. These console wars will end the exact same way the last one did: everyone loses. Anyway, with modern emulation software I already play all of my PS2 games (the last great console, methinks) on my laptop (using my old PS2's bios, of course), and I can't think of any console-exclusive releases that would make it worthwhile to start wading through the cesspool that was Gen7.

GPCGMR propaganda aside, I think that the console manufacturers kinda lost sight of what made consoles great back in the days of the 5th generation and earlier. You can't just plop a disc in and start playing anymore, now you have to wade through 15 screens of superfluous crap and inputs just to start the damn game. If this next generation is drastically different, I may have to re-consider my approach towards consoles, but I rather doubt that will be necessary.

PC gamers are the master race. The eighth gen consoles which include the Wii U, PS4 and the Xbox One-80 will all be the last consoles produced. All games will slowly market to either hand-held smartphones/tablets or PC units.

Don't believe me? Then believe this dude who did his research.

You mean the next generation PC. Xbox one PC and PS4 PC are coming to your home.
Yeah, eventually the PC will probably replace them all in about 7-9 years time.

the only thing your PC is missing is a decent controller and that's what you are essentially buying and of course the exclusives otherwise it would really be pointless to buy them.

Wii u in someways for me looks more appealing. Games are what makes a console.

At half a grand, yeah...they are like pc's. Don't know how this generation is going to unfold to be honest.

1.psvita
2.if you only go by sales...nintendo[wiiu] will probably win in the end thanks to their mario, zelda, metroid, smash bros games
3.capcoms new "version" of Ducktales...i loved ducktales 1 on nes[i also liked 2 and the gb version]
DUCKTALES

i dont really see the end of video games
from time to time things must balance out
in a capitalist world this is scary...when you dont constanly make a profit of atleast 15% compared to last year
its a catastrophy
in reality of couse it is impossible to have it any other way

companies will have to work out some long plan economy instead of only thinking in the shortest possible way all the time
MAKE FPS...PROFIT
is not longer going to work...ppl allready have their cod and bf why would they want some half assed shit that is not even close as being as fun as those are

I'm getting a PS4, but I'm don't know if I should get the launch one or wait for a slim version to come out. I still have plenty of time to decide.

1. Are you planning to invest in/do you already own one of the next gen consoles, and which one? (Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, Vita or 3DS)

PS4 off-course eyes

2. Who do you think will "win" this generation? Do you think the Wii U will continue its disappointing sales and be unable to replicate the Wii's success?

PS4 will own the market, wii is kids mad

3. Which games/trailers/demos from E3 have excited you so far?

KILLZONE, GTA5,

4. What have been the disappointments of E3 for you?

NOT a single thing.
