I was just wondering, quite randomly, what sort of tan is more attractive to each gender. I have pretty pale skin and am looking to get a tan this summer. Also, my first poll. Thought it should go here for being so random. bigrazz

Doesn't matter. I look at the structure more than the colour.

I think it depends on the person. Some people look better with pale skin and some look better tanned. I'm African-American, so I'm brown either way.

For some reason, when I try answering this question I think of this: http://i.imgur.com/MwFAweC.jpg.

So I guess creamy-tan?

I do prefer pale skin over tanned, however, tan works for me if it's not too much. Here we call too tanned people "solarieoffer" which basically means "solarium victim" or "tanning bed victim". Sadly they're no victims, they're tan addicts.
Naturally pale people shouldn't get a heavy tan just as naturally dark people shouldn't make their skin too pale. It just looks wrong to me.

For me it's usually pale skin, which is kind of the ideal for myself and for most persons I'm attracted to, although the structure is also pretty important. ^^;

I prefer darker skin rather than tanned (tan = cancer/vanity) though, that said, my crush has paler skin than me and I'm pretty pale so... roll eyes Well, I suppose it's who's wearing the skin that counts. smile

Well... it's not that fun having dark (as in DARK, not tan) skin, especially when you're a minority in a particular country. I personally think any colour skin is fine... anything except FAKE TANS! Fake tans are extremely horrible! no

I don't really care, as long as it's natural (fake tan and tanning by lying under the sun/solarium doesn't count)

Why does your poll act like there's only white people in the world?

I like a bit of an natural sun-tan the most, the kind people who are outside much often have.

This is all very subjective and rather flawed. What do you consider tanned or pale? I'm British, but of Spanish descent, so by White standards I am naturally tanned. Now I live in Japan, however, and here I am complimented on my fair skin (Pale, white skin is generally a desirable trait in Japan, to the point where make-up counters sell skin bleach). If I say I like tanned, I could mean I like a white person with a tan, or a olive-skinned Mediterranean person, and what about Asian or African skin colours? Can they be called tanned? That implies that Asian or African people can't tan at all, which is not true. And the pale option only really applies to white people or some oriental people. On the whole, this poll seems to assume only white people are viable options, which seems pretty racists to me.

I think it depends. Some people look nice with sun tanned skin; slightly brownish or bronze/caramel coloured skin in general. Some other people look nice with a pale skin. Not porcelain white pale or vampire-grade pale but more like peach colour pale.

I have sun tanned skin but since I got that because I stay outside too much. Only my arms, legs and face are actually tanned. The rest of the body is not. I think i should just take of my shirt when I'm outside sometimes to get them even.
