Where's the option "I've been there, but manga/anime had nothing to do with it"? Or at least "none of the above"?

I voted for the first option - Yes, I will go in the future - cuz I want to try all the different foods and visit all the different places that I've seen my favorite characters in smile

You can basically vote the third option then.. I mean, it's suggesting you haven't been to Japan, but your reasoning for actually going is the same, and that's what the poll asker is taking into account, just the reasoning for going to Japan, whether or not it is anime/manga related.

"Has Manga and/or Anime have had any effect on you to visiting japan in the future?" <-- I think it would be easier to omit "in the future"-- You're mainly researching the cause of visiting Japan, right? Idk, I feel like it could have been simpler... Like, yes, I want to/already have because of anime/manga; no, I will not go/did not go because of anime/manga... Well, I don't want it to sound like, "Oh, ONLY anime and manga have influenced me in wanting to go to Japan." That's not what I was trying to say, but like, at least partly influence would mean putting a yes answer.

Well, for me, I answered the first option. I want to go for other reasons too, but the manga and anime culture does play a big role in my want to go.

Voted no. I'll probably go there to visit my aunt and uncle in the future, but not for the sake of anime/manga alone. Doesn't mean Akihabara isn't a possible destination though.

I moved to Japan. I am not sure how much of my decision was based on manga and anime alone, and my initial interest in Japan was sparked by Godzilla, and later pokemon, but manga especially made it seem more like a real country I could go to rather that the mystical land of my childhood. Now, when I started reading manga/wathing anime I was just beginning to grow up, so such a obvious realislation would have likely come over me anyway as part of that natural transition into adulthood, but by reading manga I guess Japan remained within the top 5 destinations I wanted to travel to and when the opportunity arose to work here, I didn't hesitate to come, which may not have happened if I hadn't spent 10 years reading about the country already. Of course other reasons also influenced my decision, but I guess manga had some role to play in it, if for no other reason that it gave me a better idea of what to expect. (You would not believe the number of people who still think Japan is full of Samurai riding around brandishing katanas, or the equally large number of people who think it is like something out of The Jetsons, with hover craft and personal robots.)

I voted no, but I've went there before learning about manga. It's basically the reason I got into manga since some kid turned me on to it.
Why would it effect somebody? Does a, say, Italian who reads western comics want to visit the States because he thinks there's super heroes? 99.999% of what you read in manga is either fabricated or something so unrealistically cliche that it's almost funny. I can understand about what Chocopi said, but if you learn about Japan from a manga, then you had better do some more research.
I've known two people who thought a manga was very similar to what Japan is actually like. They no longer desire to return. All they did was shop and visit tourist traps.
Truly, Japan isn't that big of a deal. Sure, some people will approach you, but they only want to learn where you're from and why you''re there. They could care less about you as a person. In my case, most people crossed the street when they saw me coming because I have long hair and wear a bandana. Even people who are on the job won't bother you much just because you're a foreigner, i.e. restaurant workers. Well, the police did bother me quite a bit, though. I'm sure most of it has to do with the language barrier, but I can speak Japanese fairly well (can't read for shit, though).
Ahhh, I always go off on tangents. Anyways, if you're inspired to visit Japan because you like what you read in manga, please do more research. You wont have an "exciting" time like you see in manga unless you have friends there or grew up there. Seeing the sights or trying new foods is one thing, but it's nothing like you read in manga. Really polite people, though. eyes
I hope I answered the question. I feel as though I've only ranted. Oh well... laugh

Me? No, not really. If I visit, it'd be a family thing under the discretion of my parents, since I won't bother going there myself. The only influence anime/manga may have would be where I will visit, not whether or not I actually go there.
