Unworthy/Underestimated Successor becomes a worthy Leader

I am looking for a manga, anime, drama, book or anything else you think of with a similar character and story to what I describe.
THE STORY:
I want a character who inherits a position of authority (heir, prince to become emperor, prince to become king) who starts out as someone the people don't respect (**ex:*Spoiled Brat or * **unworthy successor **) and somehow changes everyone's perception of him (**ex:Weak to Strong, Character growth or ** he proves himself to be a competent).
Should be about his ascent to the throne and/or the earning of his people's respect.
THE CHARACTER:
~He must be for some reason SEEN as unfit to rule (whether he actually is or not) . For example, people think or know he is lazy, weak, cowardly, hotheaded, foolish, easily manipulated, or he is just viewed in a bad light by the public for any reason.
~I prefer a character of noble birth(prince, emperor, king) but anyone who inherits (rather than earns) their position of authority is ok.
SUMMARY:
I am looking for someone who seems like a spoiled brat, who is useless or thought to be useless, who becomes a great leader!

The Breaker and The Breaker: New Waves? In New Waves, the protagonist ends up as head of a major clan, but with much opposition.
He's not a spoiled brat, but he starts out weak.
Maybe Magi ? The protagonist is actually a Prince who ran away, and later goes back.

Izayakaku. It's based on the story of Minamoto Yoritomo, the founder (and first shogun) of the Kamakura Shogunate of Japan.

Thank you, Mizura. I have read And loved that series. Though he didn't exactly inherit the position I would agree that it most certainly fits.
@snowyearl, Reborn!, also works. I've seen the anime. Thanks! I was surprised to find that so many things I had actually heard of fit my request,
@Raine-san awesome! I love historical. THAT is what I'm talking about! (Maybe I'm just thrilled because I haven't read it) 🤣

Saiunkoku Monogatari seems like it would fit. Watch the anime rather than the manga, though. It's based off a series of novels, and the anime has progressed further through the storyline compared to the manga.
Akagami no Shirayukihime may have what you want, though the character that fits your description is a side character (the prince of a neighbouring country). It's definitely worth a read though. A beautiful manga.
Nurarihyon no Mago, mainly about youkai, with yakuza influences. The main character starts out quite weak and unwilling to take over the position as clan head, but grows into a well-respected leader by the end.
Drop by my fanfiction page! 😀 One Piece, Hetalia, Bleach, Harry Potter and more!

@shonaiula
It just so happens that this post was inspired considerably by Saiunkoku Monogatari. I have seen the first season of the anime. I didn't know there was a manga. I would've mentioned it. And thank you for the other recommendations!

ninohime no monogatari
as the second princess, she's underestimated by the whole court and considered a "turnip".

Divine Bells fits that description, even though it´s quite recent and not so many chapters are out yet.

The Prince who appears later changes tremendously and becomes king
+C: Sword and Cornett http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=28027
This manga is perfect example, the story is mainly about the Prince Brothers and how the develop in future leaders
Hanasakeru Seishounen The anime is better. It a shoujo and the description may be off and unappealing but there is alot of political intrigue , action and drama. Dirty politics at it finest.
