I never use normal colors. I am one who prefers to use vivid colors. Normal skin tones seem to irritate me. It's just a style I have. If you've seen my other pictures you'd see.
It's more eye catching than boring browns and neutrals.
I seriously have a hating complex with neutrals.
They kind of bore me and I won't finish a picture.
And black looks to smudgyish for me and brown looks dirty. I was taught in art to never use straight black and mix it with something... @_@ Man are memories coming back.

And it's purple, not blue. :3

But I am happy you like her.

Shoot, I had a feeling it was purple. I actually debated for a little while which color I should put. Stupid color blindness.

Well, if you don't like neutral colors for the skin tone, I think warm colors would be a better choice (Orange, yellow, pink, red; but obviously, this is just my preference). As it is now, I think that the clothing colors don't go well with the character's skin color.

OKAY. FINISHED OTHER VERSION.

Here's a better, more seriously done entry.

User Posted Image

Art/Character Name: Mu-tan.

How much effort put into the artwork: Took about 30-40 mins for the original sketch, an hour+ for the lining. Then about 3 - 4 hours of colouring (trial and error along the way).

How you think this best represents manga updates: I think Mu-tan represents MangaUpdates because her clothing is coloured accordingly to the layout of the site. Her clothes are cyber-like, representing the future -- The updates MangaUpdates gives to us all. She is portrayed as a friendly, nice girl. Which MangaUpdates is, right?!?!

---- Decided not to do two versions.

Damn these are nice, wish I could draw like that. Your deadline for submissions is next Monday. So for those who still want to participate, hurry with those pics!

I don't think should submit mine because some of these are really good. I was going do twins for my submission but I only got the final sketch done for one twin. I don't think I could finish it by the due date if I did both because I want to color it.

You can turn in a rough sketch for now and edit it later.

Art/Character Name: sally

How much effort put into the artwork: that actually took me.. 28 minutes and 32 seconds! I used a mouse on adobe photoshop.

How you think this best represents manga updates: shiny eyes?
