Best I've read is probably Alan Moore's Watchmen. An obvious one.

I haven't read all the Batman comics I've got saved yet, but Year One was indeed a great start. The Killing Joke might be Joker's best appearance, but I haven't read them all yet so...

I used to read a bunch of em when I was a kid. I even remember reading the big ol' TinTin comics, lol.

I plan on someday finishing all the peanuts strips by Charles Schulz. No easy feat.

Besides manga I'm into webcomics mostly - and a few webtoons.

Carciphona, Vampire cheerleaders, Spinnerette, Penny and Aggie, Eerie Cuties, Magick Chicks, Flipside, Menage a 3, Quiltbag, Other world, and Sister Claire just to name a few. I follow Last Blood and Marry Me too but they don't update as much as I want them to cry

Excessively large sig pic. Might wanna shrink it.

Onto the topic at hand: the only non-manga (or manhwa/manhua/webtoon) I've been able to read much at all was Spiderman. Even then, meh.

Have you heard about the seven new prequel comics DC have announced based on the Watchmen universe? Seems very unecessary to be honest, I'd rather see the quality talent involved working on some of the new fifty-two instead, some real rotten creators in there need replacing.

stuff i read every month/whenever it gets published
Donald Duck comics
Mickey Mouse comics
Scrooge
Beagle boys
walt disney comics in general
The Phantom
Modesty Blaise
Rip Kirby

i used to really like
X-men,wolverine,spiderman,hulk,spiderman,supergirl,superman,wo nder woman,batman
but...now its impossible to get 1complete story out ofthese companies
you have to buy atleast 10issues to get one story and not just the superman comic...you have to buy aquaman, action comic, green lantern, batman and a oneshot to get that ONE story
its so fucking annoying that i started hating Marvel and DC comics

For now I will simply say most everything by Alan Moore.. Tomorrow Stories and Top Ten are especially great, but that might just be because I read them recently. XD

The Perry Bible Fellowship (Hilarious Web Comic)
Tin Tin
Understanding Comics/Reinventing Comcis/Making Comics (all by Scott McCloud)
Zits

And of Course:
Calvin and Hobbes

thanks to whomever resurrected this thread. I've got a few new favorites that require mention

The Cape
Madame Xanadu
The Unwritten
The Ride/Guncandy
The Ride: Die Valkyrie!
Avengers Academy
Spider-Island crossover event. Best one in years by Marvel
Phoenix without Ashes
X-Club. It's a 5-issue mini series called "WE DO SCIENCE!". A little backstory for the uninitiated: a bunch of science nerds gathered by the x-men after most mutants lost their mutant abilities. They don't normally feature because they are nerds first and foremost, and spend more time doing all the sciency stuff in a lab instead of shooting the bad guys. Most of the time.

Madame Xanadu

I started reading that recently - moreso for The Phantom Stranger than anything - seems pretty cool. Don't like what they've done with Xanadu in Demon Knights though.

X-Club.

I'm looking to get into Marvel as Daredevil is the only current ongoing of theirs I follow, this caught my eye a while back. Should I be able to jump right in or d'ya need to know a bit about the X-Men?

Just the fairly recent stuff. The majority of mutants were depowered, the x-men moved to San Francisco. Maybe wiki the members of the x-men's science team, but not any indepth info to read it, I don't think.

although, if you're planning on getting into Marvel and starting with X-men books, know that is a mighty task. If you're going to start anywhere alot of people, myself not included because I can't be assed to read through dozens of different books and series, say starting at Avengers Dissasembled is the place to start if you want to understand most of the story arcs and crossovers in the Marvel universe upto the present. confused

Although not an ideal place to start I started with Runaways, Joss Whedon's run of Astonishing X-men, and Annhililation, all of which had little to no effect on any of the major crossovers that marvel is so fond of recently. So yeah, just jump in already laugh
