I followed Ultimate Spider-man pretty much from the start till the end (I say this because the series is pretty much dead to me now. What they did to it was just...WHY?).
Same goes with Spawn
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
After the whole apocalypse arc, I dropped it. Spawn just didn't feel the same after all the revelations during that arc.
...not sure if it's still running though.

The only American comic I follow and try to keep up to date these days is X-23...with a little bit of X-Force now and then. I also pick up any cool looking mini-series that pop up - like the recent Carnage mini-series with Clayton Crain as artist - that man's art is just plain sexy!

Have you heard about the seven new prequel comics DC have announced based on the Watchmen universe? Seems very unecessary to be honest, I'd rather see the quality talent involved working on some of the new fifty-two instead, some real rotten creators in there need replacing.

My friend has been checking out the series, he said it was an interesting read, though he said Moore wasn't really behind the idea of these. Aside from that I'm loving the 52 titles, especially Justice League and all titles involving Gotham City. They really went all out for it, Batman has had some good stories but now they've gone up in levels. I'm anxious for the return of the Joker in the fall.
Oh and to stay on topic, aside from the Batman titles I've liked some titles from Superman, Spiderman, and the New Avengers.
And lol at the hate Superman was getting, he's not a bad character actually. It's hard to imagine with all his power, but he can be a vulnerable guy. I might be biased cause of his friendship with Batman, but I still think he's got his good points.

Some Batman. I liked the last Batgirl comic (with Stephanie Brown). Calvin and Hobbes. X-Factor. Some other random ones.

A few months back, I went on a comic binge...
Finally read and caught up with all of Witchblade and Artifacts <3
Picked up a few of the "New 52"s including Nightwing, The Flash, Batgirl, Supergirl, Birds of Prey.
Picked up The New Avengers (Was eager at first...but now I find it more entertaining than regular Avengers!)
Also caught up with Invincible Iron-Man and Venom (man, when I found out about the new Venom...HNNNNG)
Oh, and for any of you webhead fans out there, I shouldn't have to say this but...pick up Spider-Men!

The new 52 has made a good run for DC, it really rejuvinated the company all together. I'm not entirely sure but I heard Marvel is planning something similar.

Favorite American Comic books that I'm reading right now would have to be (in no particular order)

Locke and Key (If you're not interested in American comic books you are doing a great injustice by not reading this. It's a great Horror/Mystery story with great are that's easy to follow.)

Fantastic Four & Future Foundation (Jonathan Hickman did a great job of turning these 2 titles around)

Dare Devil (Mark Waid took Daredevil, a character that probably has had one of the most depressing stories of all time and gave him the most unexpected twist...he made him happy. He almost makes you forget that you're over paying for Marvel monthlies. This title's new run has been receiving a lot of praise in the industry for it's new direction)

Teen Titans vol. 3 (Geoff Johns definitely became one of my favorite writers because of this comic right here. He took Super-Boy, a snot nosed character that was the embodiment of 90's cliche's, and turned him into a legit super hero. His Young Justice counter part is based completely off of what Geoff Johns did with this character.)

Swamp Thing : New 52( Scott Snyder is at the helm of this title. After reading Batman : The Black Mirror i got really excited about this title. One of the four best titles that comes for DC's new 52 in my opinion. There really isn't much to say besides that if you like horror and a great storyline than this is definitely a title for you.)

Animal Man : New 52 ( What i have to say about Swamp thing goes the same for this title. Both titles are currently in a mini cross over event that is probably the best read in 52 right now.)

Kick Ass (If you liked the movie...if you only liked it a little bit....do yourself a favor and read this. John Romita, Jr., whom is one of my favorite artists, is definitely at his best during his run on this title. I'm not usually a fan of Mark Miller...he's generally thought of as the Michael Bay of comics lol. This is a great story though. The most gripping and compelling part of it is that you can actually see a lot of the stuff that take place in it actually happening...if people were that crazy)

the current new run of Prophet ( a character made from Rob Liefeld. If you don't know who Rob Liefeld is...God loves you my child. There is literally a list of 100 reasons why he is the worst. If you ever need to know anything about Liefeld then just know that the man is a paid comic book artist that can not draw feet. With that aside the reboot of this series, that has nothing to do with Rob Liefeld, has been met with nothing but praise. If you really love Manga, which i assume you do for obvious reasons, you should know that this title has a really strong manga-ish style to it.)

Wonder Woman: New 52 ( i haven't been interested in a WW title since George Pérez left DC. If you don't know who Pérez you should look up some of his art work. With that said...the current writer and artist do this title justice. From a male's point of view it's a solid comic book about a woman that's not trying to sell you sex. The problem with most American Comic books is that the sex that they try to sell in the comic usually takes away from the art and the storyline. This comic gives you an Amazon that's here to kick the ass of gods and look totally bad ass while accomplishing just that.

X-Force: The Apocalypse Solution ( Jerome Opeña is the hidden gem of marvel. This man's are is so beautiful and so well places that you can basically read what's happening on the pages without even reading the bubbles. With that said you should read the bubbles lol it's actually a great story line.)

Yes, I believe that's what he said.

@jrdragon2003
I don't think so. Marvel doesn't really do universe resets other than, well...making new universes like, in my opinion, the failed Ultimate universe.
They do makeovers/character evolutions though, like the recent change from Ms. Marvel finally taking up the Captain Marvel title, and Tony Stark's personality change in Resilient.

You didn't need to mention that. I'm already all over it.

Got some new recs for this.
Super Crooks - Another series from Mark Millar. It's a pretty funny four issue mini-series. It just follows a bunch of super crooks on a Ocean's 11 style caper.
Saga - It's.. It's weird. yeah. I don't know how else to describe it.
Journey Into Mystery - starring the young Loki. It takes a finer look at some of the more magical bits of the Marvel Universe. Loved the "Exiled" crossover it did with New Mutants. Nice short and entertaining, just how a crossover should be.
X-Men Legacy - features one of my favorite xmen, Rouge, and, I think, the most tolerable of all the current x-books. The only one I look forward to reading on a monthly basis.

Well I slightly mentioned before that I like the new 52's take on Gotham, so basically it's a lot of the Batman titles. I also appreciate the titles of those associated with him, Nightwing, Batwing, Batgirl, ect. They're all good titles, but I've also been keeping up with Justice League, Teen Titans, and Action Comics.

@Scyfon
Oh ok my friend was hearing rumors then, which is fine. I'll let him know not freak out about Punisher being reset. laugh
