Favorite American Comic books that I'm reading right now would have to be (in no particular order)
Locke and Key (If you're not interested in American comic books you are doing a great injustice by not reading this. It's a great Horror/Mystery story with great are that's easy to follow.)
Fantastic Four & Future Foundation (Jonathan Hickman did a great job of turning these 2 titles around)
Dare Devil (Mark Waid took Daredevil, a character that probably has had one of the most depressing stories of all time and gave him the most unexpected twist...he made him happy. He almost makes you forget that you're over paying for Marvel monthlies. This title's new run has been receiving a lot of praise in the industry for it's new direction)
Teen Titans vol. 3 (Geoff Johns definitely became one of my favorite writers because of this comic right here. He took Super-Boy, a snot nosed character that was the embodiment of 90's cliche's, and turned him into a legit super hero. His Young Justice counter part is based completely off of what Geoff Johns did with this character.)
Swamp Thing : New 52( Scott Snyder is at the helm of this title. After reading Batman : The Black Mirror i got really excited about this title. One of the four best titles that comes for DC's new 52 in my opinion. There really isn't much to say besides that if you like horror and a great storyline than this is definitely a title for you.)
Animal Man : New 52 ( What i have to say about Swamp thing goes the same for this title. Both titles are currently in a mini cross over event that is probably the best read in 52 right now.)
Kick Ass (If you liked the movie...if you only liked it a little bit....do yourself a favor and read this. John Romita, Jr., whom is one of my favorite artists, is definitely at his best during his run on this title. I'm not usually a fan of Mark Miller...he's generally thought of as the Michael Bay of comics lol. This is a great story though. The most gripping and compelling part of it is that you can actually see a lot of the stuff that take place in it actually happening...if people were that crazy)
the current new run of Prophet ( a character made from Rob Liefeld. If you don't know who Rob Liefeld is...God loves you my child. There is literally a list of 100 reasons why he is the worst. If you ever need to know anything about Liefeld then just know that the man is a paid comic book artist that can not draw feet. With that aside the reboot of this series, that has nothing to do with Rob Liefeld, has been met with nothing but praise. If you really love Manga, which i assume you do for obvious reasons, you should know that this title has a really strong manga-ish style to it.)
Wonder Woman: New 52 ( i haven't been interested in a WW title since George Pérez left DC. If you don't know who Pérez you should look up some of his art work. With that said...the current writer and artist do this title justice. From a male's point of view it's a solid comic book about a woman that's not trying to sell you sex. The problem with most American Comic books is that the sex that they try to sell in the comic usually takes away from the art and the storyline. This comic gives you an Amazon that's here to kick the ass of gods and look totally bad ass while accomplishing just that.
X-Force: The Apocalypse Solution ( Jerome Opeña is the hidden gem of marvel. This man's are is so beautiful and so well places that you can basically read what's happening on the pages without even reading the bubbles. With that said you should read the bubbles lol it's actually a great story line.)
