What would you do in this situation?

I wonder what other people would do in a situation like this (at the time of writing I'm on chapter 5). If it were me I'd just tell her that I like her and therefore I couldn't be her teacher anymore, and then move on. It would be too painful and dishonest to linger in that sort of situation, and I couldn't just go on and on feeling sorry for myself. Some people might try to convince themselves that they might come around or that you have to put up a fight or whatever, but it seems that most of the time that's just unrealistic, wishful thinking and would end up hurting both parties more in the long run.

At least that's what I would do based on putting myself in the girl's shoes. For a change it would be interesting to see a manga that deals with the "acceptance of misfortune" aspect of romance. There are of course plenty of other stories that deal with the usual "everything works out in the end" storyline and they are more fun but perhaps less interesting.

I would just tell her to go f*** herself for being so selfish and not realizing that I was there for her everytime and that I would do anything for her. Also for not realizing that we are best suited for each other and that the other guy is probably a fu**tard.

Changing topics, if you want to see something with the "acceptance of misfortune" you could watch 5 centimeters per Second movie. You will need tissues. You have been warned.

But wouldn't that be even more selfish on the behalf of the MC? Being so supportive doesn't put her in debt to him. That's the classic story of being "friend-zoned," where the one whose love goes unrequited feels slighted due to the pain they feel, yet they don't realize that the expectation of some sort of return makes their own behavior disingenuous and even more selfish. I would fault the other party if they knowingly took advantage of such a situation or if they lacked empathy, but in this case the girl is just stupid and I can't fault her for that.

In my opinion the best action for the MC to take in such a situation is to stop pretending that he just wants to be a friend--that in itself is deceitful. Based on her response he should take action that minimizes the pain that will probably follow. Right now (assuming the story takes a realistic path, which it probably won't), he's just digging himself a deeper hole.

If he would confess to her, the friendship would end, and since the girl is an idiot and doesn't realize anything at all. So after confesing he would get removed from Friend-zone but into the zone where he is nothing at all to her, just an acquaintance.

I probably would do the same as him. Wakatake is a pretty relatable character imo.

It wouldn't end, she is not the type to break friendship over something like that. More like it would get her to think and eventually realize her own feelings for him.

I don't really think there's any reasonable reason to not help her study.

Yep, I've sat here for a minute after typing that and it's really all I have to say bigrazz
