Simple which do you find yourself liking more in music a male singer or female.
Any other things you could add in a comment like your gender, was your preference always the same, do you preference one but find your favorite singer to be the other gender? What genres are exceptions.

I find that I tend to like listening more to a male singer. I would look through my phone and I found about 4/5 of it has a male singer. Maybe it's because I am female and I like listening to a man sing rather then a woman. Looking back it's always been the same male singer preference.

If it's Japanese music I practically (some exceptions) only listen to female singers, especially Vocaloid (Gumi <3). I guess it really depends on your gender.

The western music I listened to had mostly male singers, but that comes with the genre (Alternative Rock/Metal). And I don't really listen to that anymore.

Depends on the genre and the person. I prefer higher voices overall so I can sing them better.

For me, i prefer male singers because they have a voice that is more soothing and less forced.

Hard to choose since it depends heavily on the genre of music and I can listen to anything. Obviously, male will likely be the best for metal and rock, though I can think of a few exceptions like Archenemy and Nightwish. With pop (Asian or not) and the like, I generally prefer female, though only if the pitch isn't too high (which is why I like GUMI more than Miku for vocaloids).

Male. I have something wrong with my ears, and I tend to hear high sounds really, really really loud. In opera the soprano is KILLING me.

But I have to admit, that there are at least three female singers I love listening to - Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane), Joan Baez and Patti Smith. But again - their voices are pretty low and soothing.

In English, I prefer male singers. Their voices are more soothing. I feel that female singers can get shrill or screechy, which after awhile will either bother my ears or make me sick of the song. But in French, I prefer female singers. Dunno why.

I'm a girl btw, always preferred male singers, my favorite artists are male, and I listen to everything except screamo, country, Justin Beiber, and songs with too many expletives.

English Speaking Male Singer ALL the way. Nothing wrong with female voice, but Robert Plant and many many other singers can tone their voices for them to sound more "girlish".

I don't have a preference for gender when it comes to singers. Maybe when I was younger I preferred female singers because I liked to sing and imitate the divas (Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston). But now it doesn't really matter to me since I'm not as big as into singing. Although I do like when I find a good rock band with a female singer. Mostly because this genre has a real lack of women, and I like seeing when women can do just as well (and sometimes better) as men.

I prefer female singers over male. Idk maybe because I'm a female? Haha lol idk. I just find some female singers' voices so angelic. I like angelic voices because it relaxes me. smile smile

I prefer female because I'm male, haha.

On a side note, having listened to ryouseirui definitely mixes things up.

I prefer male! The majority of the music I listen to has a male lead and it sounds better than female in my opinion. (I listen to Rock and Metal stuff so the guys sound better when screaming than girls do)

Pretty difficult choice.
I listen to Rock and Metal almost exclusively and there is a real lack of female singers there.
That, and the few bands that do have female leads are often just not as good musically as their counterparts.
Still, when the band itself makes great music accompanied with a good female vocalist, that is quite something special. (Nightwish, 'nuff said)
That is why I will have to go with female singers. The deciding factor if a song is good though is still the music itself. There is just something about a female voice accompanied with (good) heavy rock music I find very appealing.
Unfortunately, there are very few good rock bands with female leads.

I tend to gravitate to songs sung by female singers but I do listen to male ones too like Josh Groban, Westlife, John Legend and Linkin Park.

I don't know why but I prefer female singers over male singers. I do have my favorite male singers but there are more female singers on my phone than male.
