It's almost the end of the year, so might as well do this kind of poll (as suggested by our member Ching27). How was the last year for you?

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Do you still use IRC?
Always! - votes: 722 (5.6%)
Only sometimes - votes: 914 (7.1%)
Only to download stuff - votes: 1874 (14.6%)
Used to, but not anymore. It's dying - votes: 2152 (16.8%)
Have never used IRC before - votes: 2693 (21%)
What is IRC? - votes: 4463 (34.8%)
There were 12818 total votes.
The poll ended: December 28th 2013

Hmm, results are still pretty similar as 2 years ago. I guess IRC isn't dying as fast as we thought, eh?

2013 definitely had some great anime out there (obviously Shingeki no Kyojin being one of them), but I can't help comparing it to 2011 which was a phenomenal year for anime. As for manga, I'm not always too up to date with the latest hits, so I'll save my opinion for that. ^ ^

I don't know about anime, since i don't really watch anime anymore, but for manga it was a bad year imo.
Over 90% of all manga released this year was generics manga.
Fanservice seem to have been even more bad this year. it's ridiculous how they try to add fanservice in almost everything...

Didn't watch much anime this year, but from what I've seen, it didn't look that good. Some interesting movies/OVAs were released though, gotta watch them someday.

Yeah, I agree with that. While I didn't find too many good new manga, I found tons of great older stuff, so I don't really care. In terms of webtoons though, this year wasn't too bad bigrazz

Have to agree. Most of the stuff I read this year has been serialised for years; some of which finished this year, like Bonnouji. I also need to try and find an anime that I can truly like again.

Lose - Opposite of win, to misplace something/someone. e.g. To lose your way, to lose a fight.
Loose - Opposite of tight. e.g. To have a loose screw, to loosen a jar lid.

^ Not just scanlators, but also company documents are getting it wrong now!

I voted "best year ever" not because of the anime, because even though we have continuations of awesome titles from last year and new titles of this year. I think the manga/etc made it the best year ever with comics.nate, comic.naver, and now webtoon.daum showing some great titles in their own right this year.

Pretty standard year for me, but slightly better than average.

I discovered webcomics this year. Life has not been the same. Without fear of cancellation (generally), the story-telling in some of these works is simply amazing!

Also, while people like to bash the anime Free!, I think its a nice sign that the female demographic is being acknowledged without going the yaoi route. (Believe it or not, Free! is pretty much a shounen-type anime, just with fanservice blatantly directed at women.)

And this is sort of anime/manga related, but not really, the male yandere seems to be a current popular trend in otome games and CDs. I guess I'm just happy that my tastes are finally on the trendy side, so it's easier to find material for it.

I went with average.

That might be because I didn't really follow much manga this year, and although I watched a lot of anime, the fact that nothing bar a few series stand out and I've forgotten most of the rest kind of tells me that I didn't think much of it overall.

Everything is all just one big blur though. I can't remember whether things came out in 2012 or 2013 anymore. It's all the damn same anyway. And I agree with whoever said about the increase in fanservice. I noticed that too. Not that I'm complaining mind you... laugh

I chose "Amazing (9)" since there were quite a lot of new slice of life anime this year, which I what I mainly watch. There's also the fact that nearly all of the anime had beautiful art (in my opinion), and of course, my all-time favorite anime, Shingeki no Kyojin, was released this year too and got me back into watching anime again after neglecting it for a couple of years.

In terms of manga, admittedly I didn't read much since I was busy scanlating, but it's been a good year for my group at least.

I gave it a 6 for above average. Had some leftovers of Shinsekai Yori, Monogatari stuff is always a plus for me, Shingeki no Kyojin was worth watching, Gargantia was good, then there were a bunch of series I kinda liked, but nothing that I was totally crazy about, bunch of somewhat cute stuff like Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru, Kotoura-san, Nagi no Asakura, Golden Time and stuff I can't even remember, but I did watch without dropping.

Yea I kind of ignored the manga part and just voted for anime for some reason... One Piece and Shingeki no Kyojin developments were the manga highlights of the year.

I don't know if the poll is just for 2013 releases but in terms of just 2013 itself for my manga reading experience ie reading experience for the year itself (not exclusive to releases in 2013), it's been great. I delved into great mangas in a variety of genres and plots so I'm quite satisfied =) I hope next year will be as amazing or at least these mangas will keep up the amazing work! It's actually the best year ever for me I think.

I don't know about the anime, but I don't think that many manga that come out in 2013 is good.. I even stopped reading comic magazines since none interest me anymore. But I sure read many amazing manga this year too, but mostly old ones that just scanlated or ongoing ones. Rather, I find many great webtoon coming this year.
