The wraparound jacket band on Sui Ishida's 10th Tokyo Ghoul manga volume is announcing on Friday that an anime adaptation has been green-lit. More details will be in future issues of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine.

The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

Ishida launched the manga in Weekly Young Jump in 2011, and the manga sold about 1,666,348 copies last year to be the 27th top-selling manga series. It now has 2.6 million copies sold. Weekly Young Jump posted a special promotional video for the manga last July.

I'll have to try it out when it's released. I hope they do a good job with it.
