I archive only. This is getting increasingly difficult as unless I got it when it was released, finding the files may be impossible. I look the for the original file released by the scanlator and avoid "repacks" (modified zip/rar, converted to another archive format, or unofficial volume collection). For older and dead groups the file host links are always gone and the irc is empty. My best hope is torrents or indexed ftp/http shares.

Hard-drive space is not an issue. You can get a 3TB external for as low as $100 today. I'd recommend an internal though, as all the external ones I've used spins down the disk and rests the head every 5 minutes of inactivity only to spin right back up when I read from it. This causes increase wear on the drive making them prone to failure.

I read online, very rarely do I download. But I download and save a handful of my favorite series. I consider them my precious little collection.

I used to archive everything and file them by scanlator. But my laptop died on me and I didn't have a back up for all of it. Now I archive only my favorites and long series manga, others i just read online.

No, I've never archived scanlations. Back when I read a lot and didn't know any Japanese (several years ago), I would either download and then delete (if I liked it, especially enough to re-read, I bought the physical volumes from Japan, so I didn't need an archive) or read online.

Nowadays I don't read much, and try to read raws only for studying purposes (I have been slacking lately, though), which I download then delete after I finish (I just keep the vocab lists I made from them). Because again, if I like it, I want to own a physical copy rather than digital and, in the process, to give the mangaka some money for a job well done (and if I didn't like it, I don't even want the digital copy).

Well, I don't really archive, I just let it pile on my hard disk. Used to though, some years ago, when I didn't have my own internet connection (well, now sharing one, but well, I can use it whenever I want). Reading archived stuff is fun.

I archive and meticulously organize. I started before online readers and old habits die hard. I don't care for waiting for pages to load anyway.

I only archive a few series that are still ongoing. I used to download an entire series so I could read it at my leisure without having to deal with online readers a few times, but I don't download much manga anymore.

Great poll this week! I archive everything (in a rather disorganised way)- I have a 'favourites' list and I archive everything else according to sub-genres... and then I delete the duds if I come across them again.

Only my favorites or ones that I like to reread when I'm bored. I don't bother with mediocre stories. It's usually completed mangas that I have downloaded and archived. Anything ongoing, I wait until it's completed unless it's dropped and a really awesome storyline.

After awhile, I end up buying the english published series if I really like it and deem it worthy enough for me to spend on (buy them by the set nearly new used copies from ebay sellers)

Water damage, insect damage, young kids damage. Granted my kids have grown old enough the last is much less likely. Still remember the feels when I got the YKK series and it was obvious they'd been stored in a warehouse that was too humid.

Yes, digital has it's issues. But paper is not really a solution either. Suppose the ideal would be to buy the volumes, and then laminate each page...

I don't, but now I'm definitely contemplating on doing so because for the last two weeks and a half my internet was off and I was left only with memories and boredom. T_T

I archive... pretty much everything I read. My hard drives haven't died on me yet, so I guess I'll just continue (I hope this post doesn't raise a death flag).

I used to have over 100-200 series on my computer but after I got a job, I started to buy it in real life. I figured its much better to own the paperback, so I got rid of all my archives.
