basically i want someone who isn't strong on their own, and appears rather disarming, but controls a large group or organization from behind the scenes as a puppet master. this can have either good or negative perceptions(shiroe of Log Horizon is a good example of the good one).

anyway for this i'd prefer if his identity as the one pulling the strings was hidden and he lived his life like an underdog with the whole secret identity going for him, but that isnt required.

thanks in advanced for anything that shows up(also it doesnt matter if i've already read it so dont worry about cross checking lists, i frequently reread, and it also might help someone else that shares the same tastes)

People say the anime (or was it the novel?) is better.

A bit of a obvious choice, but if you haven't watch the anime/read the manga, go for Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch and Death Note
