Sijy: I really like the list control page idea. I don't know how Manick would feel about moving the current list prefs stuff, but having everything all in one place like that is appealing to me.

lys: the problem you had sounds like the same issue people are having with the features of the site that use javascript to update things in the backround without refreshing the page (wow, that sentence was a mouthful). I'm currently working on making that stuff more reliable.

monkeyvoodoo, lys already fixed his problem as seen by his 2nd edit
(most likely the same problem that other people have gotten because they don't have an updated file...) Clearing the cache solves all~ (or at least most)

I was wondering if the label for my list would come up when i do a manga search and bring up info on a manga instead of it saying that im reading it.

lets say i make a list called "couldnt finish because..." if I pull the manga up on this site it says "You are reading this." when it should say "couldnt finish this because.."

i guess its not a big deal but something I thought id ask for ^^

I also concur with an option to state if its actually been translated or not. as half of my wish list is manga ive seen that I want to pick up later when enough scans come out and the other half is stuff that I hope will be translated.

Same here. The wishlists works in three ways for me:
- a list of already scanlated/published series I want to read in the future
- a list of not scanlated series where I wait for the start
- a list of unregulary/near-the-end scanlated series where I wait for the scanlation to finish first

So yes, a easy indicator on the scanlation status on the wishlist would be great. I would like to look over my list and easily see: "Oh! A group picked it up!" or "Yay, it's finished!". But I can do that now with the custom lists so it's no big deal anymore. Though, I have to admit that I don't like to cluster in dozens of lists, so if a kind of status indicator on the wishlist were to come in the near future, I would prefer to not split it.

Yet, I have to second the wish for more icons to identify the series on the custom lists easier.

I'm still not sure what to use the custom lists for ... hmm... maybe we could have thread on "How do you customize your lists?"? - I need inspiration to get rid of my personal chaos biggrin

I would like to split by demographic because I often want to look-up/recommend a certain demographic and than I always need to do that with the filter at the genre search page which is a bit inconvenient when you do that a few times per day. But a better solution than splitting into demographics list would be a quick-filter on the lists pages itself (e.g. a small dropdown to blend out all but the chosen demographic or a sortable column). Any chance that something like this will come one day?

Other than that, I highly support the voices who call for a favorite mangaka list. I've plenty of mangaka were I don't want to miss out a new series, so this would be much appreciated ^.^

But in any case - many thanks for the work you put into this site *hugs* and I talk too much again, so I stop now roll eyes

(Oh, and Manick... concerning the topic in the beginning of this thread (I haven't read further than two pages), I'm in my 15th semester. So no worries on being a longtime student ^^; )

Not sure if there is reason for this, so I thought i'd ask. When I add something on a custom list, it automatically adds "you are reading this" line. Any special reason for this? Because that's not necessary true. For instance, I wanted to create a list of titles that I want to monitor (as far as their information goes), on overall I have no intention reading them at all and having them marked as such is confusing.

Also, maybe it would be handy to be able to add a title on multiply lists?

First things, first.

About the newly implemented custom lists feature:

- Can't you provide some other icons to place with them? Or allow users to upload icons themselves? The 'reading icon' serving for your custom lists as well is quite confusing.

- Also, when you click on a series' page and you go all the way down to where you can see how many people have the manga in their lists. When you click on 'custom lists' and then pick a person out of there, it says 'That is not a valid list!'.

- Last thing is that when I check other people's lists and I find a manga that's on one of my manga lists, instead of displaying the 'reading' icon, it moves a bit to the right to differentiate itself.

Currently, all custom lists are treated as "reading" lists. As of a couple days ago, the development site has complete support for changing a list's type ("wish", "completed", etc), so give it a few days (unless we find major bugs in testing), and you should see the option to change a list's type (as well as edit the name/description) on the list editor page.

There's debate over whether that functionality will (should) be implemented. I'm sure there'll be an announcement if it is. smile

This is high on the request list and my priority list. As soon as we figure out what to do about coming up with icons (whether it's allowing uploads (which I see as unlikely), or coming up with a set), we'll add the ability. I'd like to have non-reading icons on my lists, too. wink

I'm aware of the problem, but have been having trouble figuring out how to actually fix it. It's a lot trickier than it seems like it would be, due to how that list of other people is pulled from the database. It is on my "to-do" list, though.

Oops, that's a bug - thanks for pointing it out! It's actually because it's trying to display an icon that doesn't exist. I'll put in a fix for that.

Uhh, I thought we decided that one already...
I was thinking about you could put a title under as many custom lists as you want but only under 1 of the default lists

Those are alternate names for the same series entry

For this particular series:
Azumanga Daioh dj - Nyan Girasu Daioh <- the main title listed

Associated Names (shown in italics in a search):
Azumanga Daioh - Achieving a Prayer!?
Azumanga Daioh - Nyangirass Daioh

Most series have more than one accepted title. Just check out Negima
